Re: rural DSL service Traskwood, AR

I have been reading up a little about AT&Ts services, and I saw somewhere how the sales database is not kept up to date as far as new coverage goes. If that is correct how do you go about getting in touch with someone to make sure you are truly not in a newer coverage area? Also, on the e-mail AT&T sent me, saying I couldn't get DSL, it said that "AT&T Customer Service is moving quickly to bring this service to your area." Should I hold my breath or is this something they tell everyone?

Thanks,
JH

To get an up to date check of availability, post in the Direct forum here (»AT&T Direct) but be sure to read the forum rules there first since it's rather different from general forums. It's private and you can only view your own threads; the techs there can verify availability and get the sales database updated so that you can place an order if it's actually available. Also, Uverse and DSL have different databases, since their availability doesn't always overlap...

And don't hold your breath. When I first got DSL way back when, they promised to notify me if higher speed ever became available in my area. Three years later, when a problem sent me to the folk in Direct, I learned that the higher speed had been available to me for two years. Had I not had the problem back in 2002, I would still be on a DSL line so slow that they no longer even offer it (384 kb/s)...
