higher speeds

I just got off the phone with HT and should be seeing 12-15mbit service in 2 days. The higher speed will cost me about $10 more than I was paying ($70-ish per month). I'll pop back in here when things go live.

The rep also told me that certain neighborhoods were already getting 25-50mbit...

LOL!

As it turns out... and as I kinda suspected ...I cannot get 12-15mbit. I am too far from the CO. They moved me to another line and did what they could so I was able to move up to 11/1.

In real world numbers, using the closest most reliable test server, I'm seeing 8.3/1. I also get these numbers from well-connected servers such as microsoft's and netflix. (I was getting 6.5/0.75).

My total cost is also going to be lower. FWIW, anyone on Maui should probably use this server for testing: »mcckahului.measurement.uhnet.net···dex.html

Anyway, seems that the ordering department does not really know what people can actually get. They just see what's available at each CO.

I also have hawaiiantel at my office in Wailuku... from the test server above, I see 12.79/1.03 ...this is an upgrade they must have done on their own without me having to call in for it.
