 | MR814v2 - Extend Range - Powerline Adapter Basic info:
I need to improve the wireless range of my MR814v2. It is mounted 7' from the floor on a short run of cat5e from the NID. The dsl modem is a SpeedStream 5360 supplied by Earthlink years ago. The router works fine when units are ethernet hardwired to it.
Units to be accommodated are two PCs running XP, one Pro and one Home, and a Blink EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) for a Nissan Leaf. The XP Pro machine is ethernet wired. The XP Home machine is a laptop attempting wireless connection about 30' through 4 walls paneled with 1/4" lauan plywood both faces. The Blink is ~65' from the MR814v2 and experiences another two walls.
Ecotality, representing the Electric Vehicle Project, is proposing extending the range of the router with a powerline adapter arrangement. I have no idea whose adapter they use. Is this a reasonable solution? If so, can I install a second powerline adapter about halfway between the EVSE and the router to give my wife a more stable wireless connection for her laptop?
Thanks,

The powerline gear I suggest to use is the Belkin Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit |
