Re: More Tariff filings from the other incumbents

Top tech stories in 2011.
quote:
But in Canada, the biggest tech story of the year was the controversy over usage-based internet billing, as judged by viewers' interest on CBCNews.ca.

It was a drama that quickly ramped up from where it left off in 2010, when the CRTC ruled that Bell could impose usage-based caps on small internet providers.

CRTC's internet billing decision appealed
Reverse internet billing decision, Liberals say
Internet usage costs to rise

Disclaimer: It is a silent victory for me to have my petition to GiC mentioned again and a pointer to the CBC article announcing my petition being part of the top tech stories of 2011.

A bit OT, but here are rumors with the "new" mobile companies.

»www.bloomberg.com/news/2 ··· ale.html

>Globalive Communications Corp., a two-year-old Canadian wireless carrier, is in talks to buy Mobilicity, adding a competitor to take on larger rivals BCE Inc. (BCE) and Rogers Communications Inc., according to a person familiar with the discussions.

>Cairo-based Orascom completed a $6.5 billion merger with VimpelCom in April to create the world’s sixth-biggest mobile phone operator. Orascom began talks with Public Mobile, another new Canadian entrant, in late 2010 about merging with Globalive, a second person said.

So nothing official and only speculations...

Good article about Québécor and how Pelado pretends to not take political sides.

Some interesting things:

Brian Mulroney is on the Board.
Francoise Bertrand, a former CRTC chairman is chairman. (she is one who had publcly supported UBB)

The thick plottens !

No fuckin' kidding... I made it to the fifth line and quickly decided I didn't feel like thinking about this over the x-mas holidays.
