 | Acanac - Abusive billing for overusage in Quebec Hi.
I've been using cable Acanac for a year now, in Montreal, and last month, Acanac sent me several overusage bills, some dated back from January.
As I was pretty sure I almost never went above the cap, I tried to contact them, spent a lot of time doing it, and just received some useless answers.
Looking at the Acanac forums, I realized I'm not the only one with this problem. It's happening to many people in Quebec, all of them are sure they never went above the data limit, and some of them even have proofs (using the Videotron Extranet, which shows Acanac Cable subscribers their usage).
So I asked again Acanac for a detailed usage (ie not only the overusage, but the global one). The only thing they gave me is my VL code (which allows me to track my usage of the last 3 months on Videotron extranet) and my overusage, claiming they can't give me the global usage. I even contacted Videotron to know more, and they said Acanac should have the global usage.
As some people suggested, Acanac seems to be billing us on the 5 gigs limit Videotron normally have, and not the 50 gigs we subscribed for at Acanac.
Acanac just seems to ignore us, to ignore this problem, which might cost me around 500$...
Does someone here have the same issue, and managed to get it solved?
Can some Acanac employee tell us the truth, and sort this out so that everybody could get his money back?

I am seeing a few posts about being charged overages and it is being looked into but fortunately over here there is not much I can do as I do not have access to change anything in billing files. Maybe someone else will post here so we can see if this is a problem with other users also. What I can do is bring this post to the attention of Paul for you. |

I currently have a dispute of over $200 with Acanac, my ticket from the 25th of December is STILL OPEN unanswered. I have gone to my credit card company to dispute the charges, and they mentioned if Acanac doesn't provide me with proof of over-usage they will refund me those charges. |
