Jitter "quickly":
If you pinged a host a whole bunch of times, "jitter" is the difference between the maximum and minimum times.

you are loading a web page. lets pretend the web page ends up being broken into 2 packets. the difference in time (ms) between the arrival of packet A and packet B is your jitter.
