Re: Actiontec MI424WR FIOS N Router REV. I Install was 12/11/2011 so whoever said Verizon is deploying Rev I after Dec 15th may be correct. I only got Rev G. I asked the tech if there are any more at the warehouse he said plenty. I asked him about Rev I, he didn't know. When I get my "new" 150/65 I'll see that I get the Rev I if not then I'll settle for another Rev G. Give to my friend I guess.

Left ONT is a new one for 150/65 | Right side/pic is circa 2009 ONT not sure which model number 612? |

 | Grover8, my install is this Wednesday, 12/28/11. I wonder if I will get a MI424WR Rev. I. I responded to the confirmation email, once again, to ask for this router in the special instructions section. Hopefully I can get it. |

| reply to rev I I am the one who bought the rev i off ebay. I can confirm that it is only 2.4 GHz. It only has one ssid and i have inSSIDer to prove this. InSSIDer has the max rate at 130(n) on the 2.4 GHz. channel. Nothing shows up on 5 GHz. channel. I just got it today. |

 | reply to rev I my neighbor is getting fios installed today, and the technician has the rev i in hand.
I am going to try to tip him twenty bucks to see if he could swap my rev f for it. Wish me luck. |
|
 | that was a no go, the technician claimed that was his last one on his truck. Now its time to bribe the neighbor. |

 | reply to Grover8 I just got 150/65 installed after a week of headaches with the incorrect ONT, incorrect router, and my order being built incorrectly. But I am finally set up with the MI424WR FIOS N Router REV. I and it is working beautifully. Rev G was the original router provided, but that was not recognizing a gigabit connection to the ONT. After the router was swapped out, I haven't had any problems. Firmware version on mine is 40.19.22 |
|
 | I don't suppose any of you lucky dogs would do a smallnetbuilder.com-style review of the Rev I for us?
Failing that, any data, or even subjective perceptions, on wireless range, throughput, and gigabit network performance would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

Sounds like it has 2 spatial streams (1 for each antenna) and is 20 MHz channel capable only which maxes out at 130 mbps.
If it were 40 MHz capable it could get up to 300 mbps like the majority of 3rd party 802.11n routers on the market. 40 MHz channel is not typically enabled by default, so it's possible that it's hidden inside VZ's wireless firmware settings. You might want to check through the wireless settings thoroughly and see if you can find it.
I wouldn't have paid that kind of price for it even with the VZ exclusive firmware features such as CID on TV and Remote DVR - but that's me. I hope it was at least worth it to you though. |

1 edit | I just got home and was not there for the installation. I received a MI424WR Rev. I.
Here is one of my results:

Another of my results:

I am a little disappointed at the upload speeds. Many were in the 20's, but many were also in the single digits. I think I may be having some trouble in my area because I had some single digit results in the upload speeds for the 35/35 service that I had before. I thought that was because of using wireless most of the time, but now that I am doing the tests for my 150/35 service connected via Ethernet I know that is not the case. Btw, I tried resetting my ONT by disconnecting the power cable and battery for 1 minute. |

 | reply to rev I This is my best result so far:

I hope I can get 150/65 like many of you guys. |
