 | Clueless Father Here, Which Game Console Is The Best? Which is better overall, XBOX, NINTENDO WII or PS3?? This might have been asked a million times but I want a fast and straight answer, which is better in your opinion? My wife bought my kid the Nintendo Wii (black one) because it was only $130 but I'm looking at him playing FIFA Soccer 2012 and the graphics look like crap, as if you are watching an episode of South Park, I'm sure I have seen better graphics in that game in other consoles. I was never a fan of Nintendo to tell you the truth, I was a Sega Genesis man.
-Which console has the biggest game selection?
-Which one has the most online players and the best network to play against people from around the world?
-Which one has the best graphics?
(Price $$$ not important, I want to buy the best albeit it's too late now I think ) |

XBox 360.

XBox 360. Only thing is you have to pay a monthly fee.
Which one has the best graphics?
Its a toss up between the 360 and the PS3. Graphically I find both equally good.
If you want only for gaming I would go with the 360. Its on line is, arguably, better than the PS3 although it costs whereas the PS3 is free.
As both a video and games console, personally I prefer the PS3. I have both. The 360 is proprietary. You can only use Microsoft HD and cannot store video files, downloaded, on the HD.
On the PS3 I installed a 1GB HD on which I can store downloaded videos and movies. Plus its one of the best Blu Ray Players on the market and constantly updated. As a video and games console I get more use from the PS3. But that's me.
The choice is yours and personal. -- As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in schools.

 | He is 8 years old and is a Nintendo DS and PSP Freak, got the Wii for Christmas. It wasn't bad at $130 but I have noticed that even at places like EZ-Games the Wii has the least titles on the wall. |

| reply to Xstar_Lumini The Xbox 360 and PS3 are about equal when it comes to graphics. The Xbox, I believe, has a slightly larger library of games, but usually what you can find on Xbox you can find on the PS3. And a bunch of the good older games can be had for a low price. Each system has a few exclusive game franchises.
As far as online play, the Xbox has a pretty big online community, especially for the bigger titles. These tend to be titles you probably wouldn't want an 8-year-old playing online though. It's a pay service, you can get a 1-year subscription for between $40 and $60 right now. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. | reply to Xstar_Lumini The kids and I enjoy the PS3. I purchased it as a blue ray player, a few years ago, when blue ray players were expensive.
The PS3 also has: Hulu plus Netflix Vudu, DC Universe online.
Not sure if any of those are "must haves" for you or nor.
I dunno how easy it is to swap out the hard drive in the 360, but it's pretty easy in the PS3. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?. |

| The Xbox, with a live subscription, has Netflix and that stuff. No BluRay player though, just DVD's.
The Xbox uses a proprietary Hard Drive, but you can get the older, cheaper, Hard Drive for the "fat" Xbox and use it in the slim with a little effort. Or you can just buy a slim with the HD already in it. Regular off-the-shelf hard drives won't work for the most part.
I believe you can also stream media to the Xbox from your PC (with programs like TVersity) but I haven't tried it. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken

| I have seen, but not used, the media thing on PS3 You can stream media from your PC to it, like the Xbox.
I was recently considering an xbox, just for the kinect feature. But after I found out i'd need to pay just to use the basic online features, I decided against it. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? | Yeah, a Xbox Live subscription is required to get the most out of the Xbox 360.
I hear the Kinect is a cool gadget though, no controllers needed for the more simple games. I tend to use the Xbox to relax and play a game, so it's not that attractive to me. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. I'm 39 and play maybe an hour a week, mainly racing and sports games (I did get tied up in Borderlands for a couple months). But my finace wanted to buy an Xbox 360 and Kinect for her son this Christmas. I must say the Kinect is very cool. I bought the UFC Workout game (for myself) for it and it uses the Kinect and am very pleased. If I had to choose between the two I would go with the Xbox and Kinect, especially if you are looking for it for your kids. The 2 systems are pretty equal as far as gaming goes IMO but the Kinect adds another dimension to it. The PS3 has MOVE but it uses the handheld Wii type controllers. The PS3 has a bluray player as well but I suspect 90% of people looking for a gaming system don't care about that. |

BF69Premium join:2004-07-28 Camden, TN | reply to Xstar_Lumini There isn't really a "best" although I can say the Wii sucks ass. So I wil keep this discussion about the 360 vs PS3. Fanboys will say their favorite is the best. What is "best" depends on what you want out of the console.
Both are the same graphic wise though PS3 exclusives do look the best. Games that come out for both systems are just ports of the 360 version basically.
Both have a ton of games. Most games come out on both systems. If you're a fan of a particular franchise then the "best" system is going to be the one that has those games.
As far as online, supposedly the 360 is better. You need a gold subscription and that's $60 EACH. Though you can get a family gold subscription for $100 a year that covers 4 people. PS3 online is FREE. I don't do online gaming much so really I can't tell a difference. My son has a 360 partly due to the fact most of his friends have one so he can play them online. So in his case the 360 online is better. If most of his friends had PS3s he'd probably have one of them.
Both have other features like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu. PS3 has MLB.TV, NFL Sunday Ticket and NHL Center Ice. The 360 will soon be getting MLB.TV. The 360 also has ESPN3, Facebook and Twitter apps. HBO Go is coming ot the 360 soon. Once again the difference between the 2 is on the PS3 you can access these for free( assuming you have the appropriate subscriptions which does cost ) with the 360 you have to have XBL Gold which I said cost $60 a year and that's in addition to the subscription cost. Now if you game online and thus were going to pay for a XBL Gold subscription anyways then sure it's not really an extra cost. But as I said if you're like me and don't game online then as I said $60 to access things I've already paid for doesn't make sense.
The PS3 has blu-ray so if that is important you might consider a PS3. If not both do play DVDs.
The PS3 you can replace the HDD with any standard laptop hard drive. With the 360 the best you can do is upgrade it to a 320 GB hard drive that is made by Microsoft and cost $130. Considering the $300 XBOX 360s comes with a 250 GB hard drive that is an expensive upgrade for an extra 80 GB. PS3 you can slap a 1 TB hard drive in there.
Both allow for external storage. However the PS3 allows for up to 2 TB per device. The 360 only allows 16 GB per device.
Both have cloud storage for saved games. PS3 is available for those with a Playstation Plus subscription which is $50 a year and has 150 MB of storage. The 360 cloud storage requires a XBL Gold subscription and gives you 512 MB of storage.
Both now have wireless. This used to be a huge advantage for the PS3. The 360 used to require a $100 add-on. The new Slim models have wireless N built in. The PS3 have wireless G. So this puts the 360 ahead of the PS3 on this feature now in my book.
Once again which system is the "best" depends on what features you deem most important. |

 | reply to Xstar_Lumini What's "best" for one, isn't necessarily the same for you.
I LOVE my Wii, it hasn't gotten a lot of use for some time, but I got Zelda: Skyward Sword for Christmas from the wife, and that has revitalized my Wii, and I play it a lot now. There would be no Kinect were it not for the Wii. The games I have for it are fun. That's the point. They may not blow your mind graphics-wise (Zelda looks damn good though) but it's the experience they aim for over graphics power.
I also have a PS3. I use this more than the Wii, but don't do a lot of online playing with it though. I DO use it for Netflix, BDs, and such, and it works great for that. So the BD alone is a good deal with a PS3. I never got the motion gimmick they have out for it, as that's what it is to me, a gimmick to lure Wii owners over. Same with Kinect.
I don't have a 360, so I can't comment on it games-wise. I personally don't like the paying for Live (basic), but that's me. I also don't like the RROD complaints I've seen for it over the years. Kinext is a neat gimmick, but you have to wonder how long that will run. I suppose so long as Wii is alive, they will push it, but that's not enough for me to buy one.
Hell, I still use my PS2. I've got tons of games on it I'm not about to get rid of since there are several that are lots of fun to play still. (HDLoader) |

see the logistics here? LOL. A 360 is a full circle so you'd still be looking at the xbox after a 360. Xbox all the way especially after Sony's database hacking issues a couple months ago. |
