Re: Spartacus Vengeance Returns January 27, 2012 Starz has such shitty contract terms. No other network would allow actors to just leave like this - They make them sign a 7 year contract.
Also, last episode was amazing. I don't like the new guy, he's trying too had to be manly and he's not able to pull it off. Good thing they brought back Gannicus.
Anybody know if this is the last season or there's more? I googled but didn't find anything. -- I found the key to success but somebody changed the lock. |

There will be some noteworthy defeats and noteworthy victories. Im not sure they can get it all into the remainder of the season without giving it the bums rush or describing the historical events with a long wordy crawler at the end. |

There is still A LOT of history to work through.. they've barely even skimmed the top yet. -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Which one are you?" |

The story has progressed considerably and the fugitive slaves were already in relatively close proximity to Mount Vesuvius. Specific events still need to take place but we are probably closer to the end then we are the beginning,
.or at the very least somewhere close to the middle depending on how they embellish or drag it out,

Jay_Formerly known as CarnagePremium join:2001-05-15 Pickering On kudos:2 | I think this season will still be based around them growing their ranks. Releasing other slaves from this house and that house.
A lot of the major engagements between the rebellion and the Romans I think will be played out in a next season. Of course, this is just a guess and in no way do I have anything to back up that claim. lol..
I'll say this tho, I sure hope they go on for a few more seasons. I love this show! -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Which one are you?" |

It looks like next week they are starting with the crucifixions. I usually associate this with the end of the story but clearly this isnt the case. |

 | reply to Octavean How did Ashur walk without a limp? I thought that one of his leg was badly damaged, which could not heal properly. |

Jay_Formerly known as CarnagePremium join:2001-05-15 Pickering On kudos:2 | I believe it wasn't a permanent injury. Appears it has healed completely at this point. It would have most likely been a long long time since the injury he suffered from Crixus at this point. -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Wonder if this will be what helps Crixus and Agron get along. Tired of their feud. -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Which one are you?" |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | reply to Octavean I think its good that they depicted the issues that would likely crop up with groups from different territories and languages. Although they didnt mention what would be a common tongue. Not being able to understand what is being said can foster mistrust. Having said that I dont see why they couldnt have at least attempted a raid on the Gaul slave ship after freeing the first since they were unscathed.
Still there is a lack of unity and that will have a part in how this all plays out
For what its worth, as I understand it, Crixus and Oenomaus were both from Gaul. Crixus means curly hair (probably in Gaulish) so they are both physically misrepresented to varying degrees in the series.
Gannicus, Agron and several others were probably made up characters with little to no bases in reality. |

Jay_Formerly known as CarnagePremium join:2001-05-15 Pickering On kudos:2 | Gannicus was a real commander in the Spartacus army (according to what I've read). Agron I have never heard of before tho.
I don't expect Agron and Crixus to become buddy buddy but I'd like them to at least get past this issue of Agron lying about what's her face being stuck in the mines. -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Which one are you?" |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | I guess its certainly possible but Ive only come across scant mention of the name Gannicus. He doesnt seem to be anywhere near as prominent as Spartacus, Crixus or Oenomaus in the Servile War,
or at least from what I could gather.
What have you read? Was it in book form or do you have a link? |
|
Jay_Formerly known as CarnagePremium join:2001-05-15 Pickering On kudos:2 | Book form and heck if I can remember. I haven't really read up on the subject since college. He's definitely not one of the major players like Crixus or Oenomaus but I definitely do recall him being mentioned in literature about the Servile War. -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Actually I meant to say the third Servile (AKA slave) War but you know what I mean. Yeah it wasnt even required reading for me at all in college,
..not even a little. Ive just read bits and pieces here and there. So clearly I am no expert. |
