Re: So my Pioneer deck got stolen today...fml shouldn't need comprehensive, you should be able to get specified perils(just for fire and theft) as part of your insurance and save a few bucks. |

Shop around if this should happen again. Safelite does good work but is by far one of the most expensive services to use for auto glass replacement. I called a few places while I was searching for a company to replace my cracked windshield, and found that Safelite was about 60% more expensive than the average quoted price from local companies. -- irc.removed.us - #dslr |

| I will next time, but I was in a bind because I had to head to work the next day and I couldn't leave the car like it was so I drove it to work in it's condition and had Safelite meet me there. They where the only one's where I could really schedule a time and everything so I just bit the bullet on that one.
When my windshield cracked in the winter a few years ago I paid 90 bucks to get it replaced and the job was done professionally. Of course it was a slight crack just over a dollar so yeah, got it fixed after a week and done. |

rockotman...Blown On The Steel BreezeEmerging Research join:2000-08-06 DSotM | reply to michieru Back in 1976, someone broke into my 1965 Skylark by jimmying the passenger-side vent window. The summinabitch stole my whole box of 8-track tapes!
Later that evening, I was at the local park playing hoops, when some little greaser-sneaky-cheat that lived a block away from me came around trying to sell 8-tracks.
Needless to say, I got my 8-tracks back, and the little greaser-sneaky-cheat got the shit kicked out of him. -- Shine on you crazy diamond... |

| Wow I wasn't even born in 1976 but I still know what a 8 track tape is because I had to use them for recording audio during high school projects for sound engineering class. My professor did not like the digital age, but he sure loved his Apple G4 that did the same thing.
Wish it was that easy for me, I was looking on craigslist and ebay for someone selling a unit just like mine in the area but no luck. I will more than likely never find the person who did it, but I would say it has probably made me more of an angry person and trigger happy if I ever do catch someone on my property.
I still need to learn to calm down and let thing's go but I am a very stubborn person....sometimes......most of the time.
Anyway I will post pictures because I installed the new dash and I just need now the deck which is arriving today at my job some time.
The new deck I got is the following: Sony XAV-62BT 2 DIN DVD Receiver
This deck does not come with built in navigation, but I am not paying $850 ever again for a new deck that does. I have more important thing's to put my money into these days because those days are over for me. |

| Yes because I was looking for a built in solution with everything included and at the time it was very new to the market. Hence the cost, the units feature was not about sound quality but about everything else.
The Pioneer Avic F700BT had many flaws though and has left a bad taste in my mouth. That does not mean I am any less upset about it but I was hoping to keep that deck till the car no longer ran.
Anyway I decided that it was not worth getting anything of that price range ever again especially now that the car is reaching 150K miles.
I installed a Sony deck instead....here are the pictures after the repairs. The A/C control module is slightly damaged (meaning I cannot change from A/C or Heat without tinkering with it a bit, but the blower and selection switch still function. Getting a new one costs $356 right now and that's just way out of my price range at the already costly repair bill.
Total loss was around 1,200. To repair everything will be around the same......doing overnight to compensate for the loss. |

I wonder if this will change the thief or if he'll learn from it. Nothing like a good beating to make sure he changes his way, or who he steals from. |
