 | [NV] No more of the run around I live in Henderson, NV. I have patiently tried to work with Cox on their shabby service for a year now.
When I first got Cox internet and cable, it was great. But starting in January 2011, it has gone downhill. Not just the service, but the customer support as well.
I jumped through every hoop they demanded. I rewired whatever they demanded. I followed up with every different service (Netflix, Xbox Live, etc.) they demanded. But interestingly enough... my cablemodem logs remained the same even if I were simply surfing, or not doing anything at all.
Any time I access Xbox Live, I see massive DoS attacks against me IP. I traced each of those back. In EVERY CASE, they all came from Cox.
Many of my neighbors in the Henderson area have been complaining for months about the deteriation of service over the past year. Cox keeps trying to blame the end user.
In my case, I have provided enough concrete evidence of what was happening. Cox wants to respond by offering 6 month discounts... or even free service. This really ticks me off to no end.
I never accepted the discount. It only shows that Cox has let their network degrade, and they are trying to buy people out. F-THAT! Keep ypur crap service, Cox. I am done paying top dollar for crap service.
You'll keep bleeding customers in Vegas, Cox. Pretty soon, you won't have customers in Vegas.
To the management in Cox whose bean-counting, profit-mongers think they know best: polish up your resumes. |

 | No thanks. The disconnect order is being processed now. THANK GOD!
Cox had a YEAR to fix this. Not just me, but my neighbors as well. It's no wonder I've been seeing more and more dishes in my neighborhood every week.

im hard wired to my router and yes i have bypassed the router same results even when im the only person using it idk anymore I had some modem issues a month or so ago, but after upgrading to a 3.0 modem it was fine for a bit.
I've been having the same sort of browsing issues you seem to be having. Things load halfway or not at all, and I have to force refresh several times to get a complete page. I thought it might be my router, but it's the same plugged straight into the modem. It also happens on all of my computers, so that leads me to believe it isn't something on my end.
I wonder if they've changed something with http caching that's not working quite right as it only seems to be a http issue, other connections work fine. Hopefully it will clear up soon because it's very annoying. |
|
 | reply to bryant313 They won't fix it. Don't bother wasting your time waiting.
Check you logs for DoS attacks when you're connected. Especially when you use video streaming, or online gaming. I'll bet you'll see a LOT of them. Look up the IP addresses.... and see who is doing it.
I am trying Dish Network and Century Link DSL. The installation is set for December 30. I'll make sure to provide a detailed explanation in this thread of how things go.
I purchased the same TV and internet data speed I had with Cox. The price will be less than half per month. Plus, I'm getting DVR service. |
|
 | reply to Lerxst2112 that's the thing i have a docsis 3 modem have 6 downstream channels and 1 upstream channels are signals are perfect
this problem also comes and goes for me dose it for you as well |
|
 | 'Comes and goes' .... hehehe... yea. It comes and goes alright.
When you call Cox and complain, and threaten to cancel, things seem to clear up for a day or two. Then *BOOM* - back to blaming me, my equipment, etc. It never mattered how many log files I provided, nor did it matter how many times I called. Same old run around.
The funny part: I scheduled a disconnect for the 21st of this month. I needed to postpone so I had time to shop for another provider. Now, I made this request in early December. I did this request so I could match the disconnect with my billing date. But guess what happened to my service? Not only my internet, but my TV as well? Even BEFORE the disconnection date?
Right down the drain.
Don't bother with this company. Try something else. You'll just get the run around forever, your service will continue to degrade, and your bill will just keep growing. |

| i have had countless techs come out maybe 30 visits this year alone and not one of them could find out what was wrong with my service
nor did they know about sb6120 vs the dpc3010 or dpq3212
alot of them told me i was to advanced for them and even a senior tech said that i was to advanced for them
they also told me i need to have a computer tech come out im pretty much a computer tech not only can i build and diagnose system hardware problems but software as well |

| reply to Goodbye Cox im not saying that im displeased or upset with cox i just wish my internet would perform the way it should
epically when gaming
i upgraded my internet from the 12/1 to the 20/2 2 months ago and then in December cox raised speeds on all service tiers except ultimate and premier which really fried my bread (preferred went from 12/1 to 15/2)
so now im paying more for only 5mbps download more and the same upload speed so that bums me out since im now in a price lock and was amusing i would get a speed increase in December something that cox has done for the last 7 years or so
another thing that bothered me is when playing console gaming and pulling host on a wired connection i still have crummy performance
but when i ask the techs about that they say that's normal but how come when i watch pros live stream and they get host they don't lag like me 1 bit all there shots register
i know pros have more than 2mbps upload speed and play wired as well but still idk whats the difference between there setup and mine

 | besides download and upload speed of course |

 | reply to Rob_ Rob,
Your advice sounds reasonable... if this were something new, or I were new to cable internet service.
Don't you think I tried all of this already?
You have to understand... this is a well known issue with Cox in Henderson, NV. And I certainly don't make posts like this lightly.
I couldn't get Cox to send a tech out for MONTHS, Rob. MONTHS. No matter how many times I sent log files, no matter how many times I called, emailed, or opened tickets on their web site. EVERY NEIGHBOR I have spoken with over the past year, who had experience with Cox, has had exactly the same experience. This is why they are getting dishes. This is why I keep seeing more and more dishes popping up in my neighborhood.
I specifically told Cox I am not looking for a discount. I simply wanted my service to work as advertised. I will pay a fair dollar for fair service. But when I am paying for 12Mbps, and rarely see over 1.5Mbps, FOR A YEAR, it's time to call it quits.
Bryant lives close to me and is experiencing the same thing. I have see several postings in this forum regarding this problem all over Vegas. And, I see this problem in other forums.
Where's the problem?
In my case, I don't care anymore. Another dish is going up in my neighborhood this Friday. |

| Good luck with CenturyQwest... maybe their DSL is worth a darn in your area if they've got fiber to (somewhere near your) home deployed - and IF you can get them to turn off interleaving on your connection |

 | reply to Goodbye Cox DoS attack? From COX? Really? I think you're confused as to what a DoS attack is or you're using some paranoid "firewall" software.
I've had cox for over 10 years. I've found that when dealing with the phone support is hopeless the several COX employees on this forum go above and beyond to resolve the problem.
Good luck with qwest/centurylink.. Your bill may be lower now but I imagine that's an 'introductory' period and your rates will rise after a 6-12 months. DISH network is the same way.. 2 year agreement with monthly costs going up after 6 months. Have fun with that. |

In my part of Henderson, they're dog slow. And it's a fairly new community (built in 2005), so they can't sue the "old equipment" excuse. Very reliable, but oh. so. slowwww. My DSL used to sync at 512k (out of a possible 1.5M). I called and asked why so slow and they said that's all it would ever be. Embarq (at the time) had very polite and apologetic tech support. But they also said that I had maxed out for speed. Fair enough. I needed more.
So I got Cox and haven't looked back. My connection does get a bit squirrelly at times, but not for long. And it's FAST. |

I've got cox, I bought DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem and it gone be rocks and I had much fewer tech out to my apartment because I know how-to tweaks the windows networking software settings and ethernet settings stuff professionally. |
