[CritEditN] Concert Gallery... getting back in the groove
Hey everyone. It's been a minute. I'd like feedback on some concert photography. Lenses used: Samyang (Rokinon) 85mm f/1.4 MF, SMC Takumar PK 50mm f/2 MF. Also had a cheap Metz flash on the ol' *ist DL.
These all had quick & dirty RAW conversions in UFraw & about a quarter had brief further editing in gimp.
u have two kinds of photos, of the musicians and of the people in the audience.
all are well composed, well framed, well focused. the angled framing of some of the audience photos makes them unusual. the audience photos are also well exposed, just right bright.
two things might help with the dark exposure of the musicians: was flash forbidden? or perhaps you could add a colored or partly colored filter to the flash, to not have the flash be as obtrusive as bright white flash? or can you increase the iso/aperture?
many of the images of the musicians also have the bright white and bright colored lights distracting, just from brightness, from the dim musicians. cropping even tighter, or using a tele lens should fix that. various folks made 135 f 2.0 or similar.
