1.3mbps download speed on an 11mbps connection?

I have 12mb Uverse DSL at least that's what is advertised. I have speed tested it myself at 11mb-down 1mb-up so I know its working close to advertised speeds. Problem is when I am downloading on my pc which is Wired straight into my modem I am unable to download any faster then about 1.3Mbps. I tested this by running my torrent software and a separate game download, if I run only one it peaks at about 1.3Mbps if I run both it pretty much splits 1.3mbps in half between the two. My question is why am I only able to peak at 1.3Mbps on an 11Mbps connection??

Are you sure that's 1.3 megaBITS/sec rather than 1.3 megaBYTES/sec? an approximate 10:1 discrepancy between the bits and bytes figures is normal, and the abbreviations are so close as to be confusing. Bits is kb/s and bytes is kB/s. Most downloads are measured in bytes, while speed tests report in bits...

Service Description::Download speed up to 12 Mbps

So I'm guessing that is 12 Megabits since 12 Megabytes would be 12 MBps?

although very confusing I guess my connection is right on point as far as download speed?? so 1200 KB/s is 12Mbps"megabits" which would be 150MBps"Megabytes" 8 bits is 1 byte? or am I just completely lost?

You should first check the modems sync rates

Downstream Sync Rate (kbps) 11998
Upstream Sync Rate (kbps) 1021

Disregard most of this post :P

My main question at this point would be is 1200 KB/s accurate for a 12Mbps connection? I mean its fast to me.. But I just thought it would be faster..

yes on the 12mbit IPDSL package you are refering to, you will top out at about 1200 -1250 Kb/s download speed.
