"Dec 24, 2011, @537.beats Yesterday we finished the migration of our databases to newer and more powerful backend servers. The result of this should be a faster website and faster SuperSearch search results. "

| reply to imtim83 I'm frankly getting tired real quick of Newsleecher. It's got more bugs then cottage country in the summer, yet the developer keeps pushing forward with "new features".
RNE hasn't worked properly since the 3.9x days, yet it hasn't been fixed, despite my posts. But hey we get this fancy snowflakes theme just in time for Christmas.
I'm quite close to moving to Saznzb, Super search is nice, but not for $40/yr. -- It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what? |

 | reply to elwoodblues ive tried to leave newsleecher but the supersearch feature is by far the quickest way to accurately find and download stuff |

Also I think the free alternatives like sabnzbd are just ugly.. that includes newsbin |

I just highlight my selections in Newzbin and leave it at that. Everything else is done for me. I don't even have to look at Sab. And with Sickbeard I don't have to do anything at all, period, after the initial setup. -- Support the Occupy Wall Street movement--try to kill old people! »tinyurl.com/7b6ktmy |

I haven't tried sab in a while but call me uncomfortable with the idea of using a "web browser/server" to do it.. I also wonder if they have the ability to show the MBIT like newsleecher does..?
The difference is I highlight my entries in supersearch (assuming it has what I want) and it downloads right away.. same thing in a way..
In fact I'm guessing there are many features in using "sab" I would miss/like sometimes I do download headers.. sometimes I like to move things around in the "que" or organize them by subject, size etc. and I like the "open" feature for certain files.. newsleecher is real client application python/sab strikes me as a semi-hybrid
And I have yet to try sickbeard.. though I hear good things |

| reply to imtim83 And it's ugly when I have to be in it.. another good thing about newsleecher.. I can watch it minimized on my desktop and know when it's done
Now some buggy things about my version (it lost something I wanted/used to work can't remember) it loses all my automatic PAR information if it closes or crashes |

I've used it for years and like it, but have mostly moved on to Sab nowadays.
Sickbeard is ugly and not intuitive. But, it and Sab are a great combination of set and forget. -- Support the Occupy Wall Street movement--try to kill old people! »tinyurl.com/7b6ktmy |

 | reply to imtim83 I used sab for a little while but got fed up with it wanting to repair everything, even when I would download it 100% fine with newsleecher. |

bbhog join:2010-07-05 North York, ON | reply to imtim83 I'm also a newsleecher user that can't find the benefit to saznzb. Tried it a year ago, tried it a month ago. It just doesn't beat my experience with nl |

GooberPremium join:2000-12-17 Naperville, IL kudos:4 | Then you likely have no clue how Sab works. |
|
bbhog join:2010-07-05 North York, ON | Possible but unlikely. Know of any advanced tutorials? |
|
GooberPremium join:2000-12-17 Naperville, IL kudos:4 | Unfortunately, no. I use it in it's very basic sense. I select bookmarks in Newzbin and then let Sab do the rest. Also, Sab in conjunction ith Sickbeard. -- Support the Occupy Wall Street movement--try to kill old people! »tinyurl.com/7b6ktmy |

| I like binsearch. I use a very specific search pattern that shows me a very reader friendly list of the latest released shows. I choose the ones I want and nzb them.
I've been able to duplicate this process in sab but NL looks better and has better speed reporting. The NL chart is a VERY good tool for understanding what's going on with your connection when things go wrong.
I am going to give it one more shot with sickbeard. Would be nice to automate some stuff. |
|
GooberPremium join:2000-12-17 Naperville, IL kudos:4 | I think the Sickbeard/Sab integration is where the most value is.
Yes, Sab is ugly. Sickbeard isn't prettier or less confusing. But the two together are beautiful when it comes to results. It's just a little difficult to set up to get to the results. -- Support the Occupy Wall Street movement--try to kill old people! »tinyurl.com/7b6ktmy |

elwoodbluesElwood BluesPremium join:2006-08-30 HarperLand | reply to imtim83 Looks like it's completely dead, Newsleecher.com simply says Bad Request (Invalid Hostname).
It can't phone home to validate the license and if you have 5b12 you can't even launch it.
This is one sad sack organization. |
