1 edit | What's up TWC is running out of bandwidth? Directv doesn't do this, when the show is DD5.1 that's what it is. |

Testing some other channels might be an idea to see if its missing everywhere!

1 edit | I don't know how much it saves but I'm sure it's a lot bigger than stereo. Is that possible that they are not giving the DD to TWC, why would they advertise it in the screen? I'll be checking around if I find one, so far nada. |

 | I did not see it from the guide, it says "in HD5.1" in the bottom right of the screen in the beginning of the show. It's definitely in DD. Did you said, you are getting it in buffalo? What's the difference in NYC? |

 | If the feed from CBS is Dolby Digital 5.1 and it's coming out in AC3 from TWC, what do you think is the problem in NYC? |

 | Ok no problem, I hope TWC look into this problem. TWC is definitely feeding the Audio in digital as my connection from the cable box to the audio receiver is optical but it's not giving us 6 channels. |

In fact I haven't find any channel that does, is there? That is because you need to use Optical (SPDIF), HDMI or coaxial cable(SPDIF) to the 5.1 receiver DD-5.1 only uses 384-640Kbps Variable bit rate DTS 5.1 is 1.5 mbps (Fixed bitrate from Blu-ray)
I can confirm in socal
DD 5.1 is being broadcast on both the SD CBS and HD CBS |

Analog and SD digital are usually only output in stereo with Dolby Pro Logic II.
The HD channel is usually the only channel that carries DD 5.1 -- If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes. |

You also bring up another good point though, the cable box has to have a DD decoder in it. All HD boxes do have a DD decoder in it, but not all digital boxes do, especially older SD boxes. -- If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes. |

DD 5.1 is being broadcast on both the SD CBS and HD CBS That's correct, I'm using HDMI connection then tried a separate optical(SPDIF) cable to the receiver and still unable to get the DD5.1. |

What is the audio output on the box set to? Some have multiple options... DD, HDMI, PCM, etc. -- If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes. |

Wrong, Dolby Digital works in SD and HD, that's how I get it from Directv when I had them. It TOTALLY depends on how the provider processes the signal. I've seen multiple situations where a digital SD channel didn't have a DD audio stream but the HD channel did. -- If it's important, back it up... twice. What is the audio output on the box set to? Some have multiple options... DD, HDMI, PCM, etc. I have not seen any channel that outputs DD5.1 yet. The TV's audio output is PCM and the other option is dolby but it's grayed out. Any reason for that? The TV is connected to a cable box through an HDMI cable. To eliminate the HDMI, I tried an Optical connection directly from the cable box to the Audio receiver and still no DD5.1. My cable box receiver is SA Explorer 4250HDC. Is this receiver capable to output DD5.1? My guess is, it can, as it has HDMI and Optical outputs or is it a wrong assumption. |
