 | [HN7000S] No ACP Possible I hooked up a used HN7000S (to my setup which works well with my DW6000) in order to see whether it is good. I get SS=93, but an ACP would say "requesting, waiting for reply" for ever. System also says "Waiting for first heartbeat message" and "setup incomplete" and would do so for more than an hour. I see a high number (> 50,000) of frames being received but that would not end. Could the modem be blocked?

grohgregDunno. Ask The Chief join:2001-07-05 Dawson Springs, KY | That transponder may not have an operational ACP server, which is not unusual. The good thing is that it doesn't matter what transponder you use. Change your modem frequency to that of another transponder - on the same satellite - with the same receive polarization. In other words, if you're Vertical now, try ACP on another Hughes-leased Vertical transponder on the same bird.

means your modem believes it is commissioned and is trying to download operational software. this normally occurs after successfully completing registration.
it is quite likely that if you go to the System Info button on the System Control Center, you will see a SAN or SiteID listed there from it's previous use.
given this knowledge, what did you enter for location when attempting to run registration with the HN7000S?
because if your location is not accurate, you may not be able to run an ACP test even if you are accurately pointed.
i would start with a factory reset on that HN7000S modem.
telnet into the modem
in most versions of windows type the following into your command prompt: telnet 192.168.0.1 1953
you will get a menu
type RF, hit Enter.
it'll say "deleting files..." etc, eventually it'll lose connection to the modem and when the modem reboots, you'll notice the power LED blinks. this means it's running on the fallback software.
then re-attempt registration (or at least run through till you are at the pointing phase) with correct location and transponder settings.
i'm not aware of any KU transponders run by HNS that do not have active ACP servers on them.
it's true it could be offline, but then you wouldn't get "requesting waiting for reply", you wouldn't even get the "perform acp" check-box on the Receive Antenna Pointing page. |

 | reply to mountainfrog Thank you both for your prompt replies.
I have an update on my problem: In the meantime I managed to pass ACP. But then on establishing sat. connection, it said: "Timeout occured during commissioning establishment" and after a retry: "Commissioning aborted due to transmit signal problems (TXCode10)". I checked system status and found, that the service had been de-commissioned at the very time I tried to get to establish sat connection: "Broadband Satellite Remote Service History ..... vsat service suspended due to billing lock at SUN JUN 14 18:12:14 2009 vsat decommissioned at THU DEC 29 16:07:06 2011"
So, I can't get through to the registration server...

Raminto join:2006-02-28 Whitehorse, YT | Looks like your modem is locked, because the modem is still assigned to the pre-owner contract and there is an open bill. Check with the guy that sold you the modem, only he or she can fix this with Hughes. -- dw7000/.98m/2watt/Horizon1/1381/256k4/5 /xp sp2/desktop compaq 6330CA/linksys wireless/thinkpad xp pro/Toughbook CF-28 xp pro |

 | reply to mountainfrog This:
said by mountainfrog:"Commissioning aborted due to transmit signal problems (TXCode10)". and
said by mountainfrog:vsat service suspended due to billing lock at SUN JUN 14 18:12:14 2009 vsat decommissioned at THU DEC 29 16:07:06 2011"
are unrelated problems.
the first, indicates you have a transmit problem. could be cabling, transmitter hardware, transmitter alignment, or Lats and Longs.
the second issue, indicates that even if you could talk to the registration server, it likely wouldn't let you through.
but you can't confirm that yet, as you haven't made it that far through the process.
the fact that the alleged billing lock is 2 years prior to the alleged decommission means that it's entirely possible that your modem is not in fact "locked" in such a way as to prevent registration.
as i said previously, you haven't gotten far enough through registration to know for sure.
if you site IS completely locked, you'd get an error after connecting to the registration server that likely says something like "Cannot complete request due to Technical Difficulties".
in this case, 'Technical Difficulties' means they've locked your modem off the network based on its serial number.
in summary, all you can tell for certain at the moment, is you have no transmit link to the NOC. |
