[Rant] Windows Live specifically the email portion

Insert a metric ton of anger and hostility now.

I have nothing to say that I can print (and not get in trouble with staff here), but I sure would like to say it.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Too many programs out there, always being fiddled with, things being fixed that were never broken to begin with, but are now. Endless 'improvements' that never should have been enacted.

And Windows Live is one of them.

No I don't need my email program trying to remain in contact with every friggin thing on my computer. It's an email program, couldn't they just make it send email? Obviously not. Needs to do more. Not sure why, they just keep screwing around with it.

Thing takes too long to load, and too long to function and all because it is trying to be too much and not happy with just being an email program.

No, I don't need you to open Messenger I was just wanting to send an damned email.
No, I was just wanting to send an IM when I want to check my damned email I will.
No I don't need you to load just because I turned on my damned computer.

What brain dead twats are behind all the so called improvements always being shoved on us any way?

none

you are using a microsoft product, what do you expect? there are tons of other free mail programs out there, find one and use it. MS products are all bloatware.

In some cases I am referring to Windows Live which is a unification of several programs, including email.

I use Hotmail. Once it was just Hotmail, till it got borged or something. Now my Hotmail seems to be imbedded in a lot of crap.

Firefox runs via Live.

I am not saying I like any of it, but it functions via Firefox.

I use Firefox, and I do all of my email process via my browser.

Once upon a time, it was just me and Hotmail and no Microsoft clutter. Then they buggered the experience to hell.

That's news to me. I use hotmail almost exclusively, and only with FF. Does all it's supposed to do.

Adblock. And a webmail notifier on some computers. Never had an issue.

I use Live Mail on Windows 7, and it does none of those things. How did you set it up?

If I knew, I'd likely turn them off.

Every time I open my email, my Messenger activates and reveals I am online. Not really a problem, But a buddy has asked me 'where was I, I saw that you were online', I had missed a phone call, and he had seen I was online. Although I can go online and check email and not need to be at home of course.

There's just too damned much inter-connectivity for my needs. Eventually someone at MS maybe just need to accept, I don't WANT all my goddamned devices interlinked and talking to each other. It's NOT always a plus.

I'd start by removing all add-ons and resetting everything to default. A plain install of FF should do it. It's definitely on your end.

Whether or not Mail runs at login is determined by an entry in the Startup folder. (Odd: I want that to happen so I think I had to manually add it; no fair you got it for free). I don't think there's a configuration setting to control this.

In Mail itself, under Options->Mail, General tab, there's a checkbox for 'automatically log on to windows messenger'.

I don't use messenger but I'd guess it has a setting for 'automatically log on to mail'.
