Re: I like my new OBi110!

Interestingly, I just noticed that Anveo also gives FAS, which means that the calling party starts paying as soon as the phone starts ringing.

Anveo does not give FAS instead Anveo gives you an option to configure if calls should be answered or not. See my post »Re: Question about FAS

When call is not answered Early Media can be used. With Early Media it is possible to actually do pretty cool stuff like interact with the caller, capture key presses and even have 2 way conversation (depends on the switch center equipment etc).
I've seen posts here @DSLR where some folks were even trying to find a way to utilize Early Media for international calling without getting charged for the call.

It is my understanding that carriers (not necessarily providers) do not like Early Media because they will not get paid interconnect charge for the duration of the call over Early Media. Thus pretty much all carriers have contractual terms limiting providers how they can use Early Media. To meet such terms some providers take safe approach and prevent use of Early Media by answering incoming calls.

Re: How many GV rings for an inbound call

said by mazilo:

With my FS, I get 4 rings before GV's voicemail picks up. I wish GV will add an option to enable/disable voicemail. Anyway, I was thinking to configure my FS to answer @ the 1st ring and forward to the designated extension. This way, if no one answers after 6-th ring, then FS voicemail will kick in.

Thank you all for your reply! Hmm... it seems that my FS box or GV account is impatient.

mazilo, do you mind post, in the following thread, a partial log from fs_cli, showing that your FS indeed gets ~25 seconds from the start to hangup? Thanks in advance.

Here is where Google tells us about 4 rings limit - About Google Talk voicemail - Google Talk Help. Usually 1 ring takes 6 sec. Thus, 4x6 ~ 24 sec.

Just a quick update - no echo or talk-off detected so far!

Hi everyone,
I've been meaning to acquire some sort of VoIP adapter for a while, and considered the Linksys SPA3102 or the Grandstream HT-503, but now I heard about this OBi110 you're talking about.

Could you confirm it doesn't suffer from the echo problem of the Linksys?
Also can it handle a CID based blacklist on the POTS line?

Regards

Yes and yes

I've been using it since December and haven't even had a hint of echo, both with an analog phone connected directly to the OBi110, and also with the OBi110 routing calls to my IP phone. I've used all of PSTN, Google Voice, VoIP.ms, and my Asterisk server with it.

It can handle a Caller ID blacklist for the POTS line. Here's how I set it up.

User Settings>>User Defined Digit Maps
Label: Telemarketers
DigitMap:(3062354522|7806690965|2064560661|7059950694|9052811282|8888001250)

Physical Interfaces>>LINE Port
InboundCallRoute: {(MTelemarketers):sp1(06897)},{ph}

Note: 06897 is a VoIP.ms recording that plays SIT and a not-in-service message. {(MTelemarketers):},{ph} would probably work as well if you don't use VoIP.ms.

First of all, thanks for your prompt reply.

Can you also create a similar rule for anonymous calls?

You are very welcome

Yes, certainly you can. I haven't tested it, but {(MTelemarketers)|?:},{ph} would probably work.

Ok, I will test the solution as soon as the device arrives.

Mango See Profile Where the number 06897 comes from?

I'd like to check inbound filter for SP1 and with this filter in place call is transferred to 06897, which doesn't exist in my SIP switch (FreeSWITCH) and incoming call eventually goes to voicemail. There is no SIT and/or any "not-in-service" message.

The number 06897 is not somehow predefined in OBi100 device. Is it supported by your phone provider? I guess it's your phone provider makes SIT along with the message, reacting on an invalid number. And you may use any other invalid number, like e.g. 06890 or 06892, etc. Is it the case here?

Sorry, I should have explained better. 06897 is a VoIP.ms recording. If you don't have that, {(MTelemarketers)|?:},{ph} is another way to block calls.

Hello,
I finally opened the box of my new OBi110 (had to replace the PSU), but I'm overwhelmed by all of its features.

Basically, I'd like to use it with a POTS line and a SIP account and for the time being, disable Obitalk and any kind of bridging/call transfer/forward.
I've set up the SIP1 voice service, but I'm not sure how to select the default outbound line. Ideally I'd love it to be the POTS one and only use SIP1 with a prefix of some sort.

Also how can you tell from which line calls are coming in? Is there a distinctive ringing feature?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Regards

Your best bet is to post your query at the OBiTalk site below:

See if this helps a little:

**1 -> SP1 Service
**2 -> SP2 Service
**8 -> LINE Port
**9 -> OBiTALK Service

Thanks, I downloaded the manual and found about that, but still I'm not sure how to configure a SIP account: do I have to configure both SP1 and ITSP Profile A ?

Yes, you have. At least set these values:
-- Service Providers | ITSP Profile A | SIP set ProxyServer
-- Voice Services | SP1 set AccountName and AuthPassworrd

And to set default outbound line - go to Setup Wizard | Outbound Settings and set Phone PrimaryLine.

Thanks, much better now:)

I'm figuring out the Digitmap and OutboundCallroute syntax (emergency services especially), but there's a small thing I'd like to solve first: do you think it would be possible to be immediately connected to the line when the call is routed via POTS?
I mean, like when using "#" but automatically.

Also is there a way to identify the line the call is coming from?

To identify line the call is coming from you may use distinctive ringing. For example to set specific ring for SP1 voice service:
1. Define ringing tone - go to Ring Settings | Ring Profile X and define your specific ring pattern there.
2. Go to Voice Services | SP1 | SP1 Service and set X_DefaultRing accordingly
