Experience with MJ+ including outward faxing

I've plugged the MJ+ into my Verizon FiOS router, and into the entire home's phone network. It works fine. The quality is OK -- a little less high frequency response than the FiOS landline, but overall pretty good, and no dropouts nor more delay than any other provider.

I have a cheap Brother fax machine that works fine with MJ+ for outgoing faxes at least. I never receive faxes, so that doesn't matter to me. It dials OK, syncs up promptly, sends at normal speed, and the resulting fax looks as good as it does with other systems, which is to say, not too good for a 40-year-old technology, but usable.

MJ doesn't tolerate dilly-dallying while dialing ... wait more than about 2 seconds between digits and you get a recording. You get the same recording for any kind of misdial, including trying to start off with *67. The initial "1" is optional, but an area code is required.

Today the FiOS service dropped for a few minutes. When I picked up the phone, there was a recording telling me to check the Internet connection, but I had already noticed the Internet was down. I rebooted the FiOS router and all was OK again.

Since practically no one calls my landline any more except telemarketers, I'm porting its number to parknblend, where I will post a message advising callers to get in touch with us another way. This is so infrequent legitimate callers like the dentist don't find the landline number gone. After about 6 months, I'll pull the plug on that. I think the FiOS bill will go down $10, plus the $6 interstate line fee and a few nuisance fees.
