 | Hi there TechGuy,
I was never able to get the ARRIS WOW provides to function without dropouts and paused responses like I was experiencing, and reverted to my previous router - a Linksys/Cisco WRT-610n. Things are now stable.
The question does remain though, why wasnt it able to work? Keep in mind that my ASUS was tested a few different places without a problem, and autoconfigured properly. So, was I missing something within the ASUS's configuration menus that would have fixed things, or is it merely incompatible with the ARRIS WOW uses for their DOCSIS 3.0 customers?
I encourage you to give it a shot yourself, you may have the knowhow to configure the router properly where I was not, or you may have to purchase your own router to get everything functioning. If your network needs are basic (i.e. maybe your printer is wifi, but you have no complex VPN or network storage needs) you may be able to get by with just the ARRIS DG950a, with its' own wifi and routing capacity. In my experience, the range on it was much less than a dedicated router - it was only reliably broadcasting to the room it sits in, versus my wrt-610n which broadcasts throughout my modest (950sq ft) duplex with no problem.
Hope this helps out, and that you share your experience here in this thread for others to contrast the possibilities with this configuration. |
