| Need help with my HD Cable Box Please!! I'm using a Cisco Explorer 4642HD cable box with HDMI connected to my tv. The problem is, that once in a while, while watching tv, the sound will cut off for like 2-3 seconds and then will come back on, aswell as once in a while the screen will freeze and won't unfreeze until I change the channel and then change it back to the station I was watching tv on.
So my question is, do you think it's the HD Box that is causing this or maybe the HDMI cable that came with the box needs replacing or what?
I'm using the HD Box on my brand new LG HDTV I got for xmas which is 1080p and 120hz, so I don't know if maybe the HDMI cable I was provided with is not compatible with my tv or if I might need a new updated faster HDMI cable or something.
This is my second Cisco Explorer cable box, because the first one completely died on me, so I had to replace it with a new one. I was just curious what ya'll think and that maybe you can give me your opinions and help me out on this one. Thanks!
Sincerely, |

| It is kind of hard to say because it could be a few different issues. It could be a defective HDMI cable. If I were you I would go to monoprice and buy a new one. It should only be a few dollars. DON'T go to Best Buy or anywhere similar and DON'T buy expensive HDMI or Monster cables.
See if that solves your problem. If not then it is likely signal strength coming to your receiver or your receiver is faulty. |

I am one of the »Approved Suddenlink Tech Support Agents, and would like to help.
Are you still having problems with the sound cutting out and the channel freezing?
At first glance it does seem as if the HDMI cable is the culprit... |

| Hi SL, yeah the sound does keep cutting out once in a while, aswell as the channel will freeze and won't unfreeze till I change the channel, and then change back to the channel I was watching and where it froze at.
lol I think it was last night or the other night, where I was watching tv, and it was ticking really bad. The sound would cut in and out back and forth, back and forth for like the past 15-30 mins or so. I guess it had a bad ticking problem or somethin! lol.
But anyways yeah it still is doing it. You don't think it's my tv any at all do you? Because it's a brand new LG 1080P 120MHZ I got for xmas and I was kinda worried and hoped that it wasn't my new tv. I think in my opinion it could be the HDMI cable or the cable box. I don't know....what do you think SL? Thanks for your fast reply! |
