TWC/MSG Update?

Any updates on the msg/twc contract dispute?

A quick Google search earlier was pretty bleak. Supposedly the sides weren't even talking. ...But these things tend to get settled in the final hours, so there is still some hope.

How interesting. I wonder how long this will go on for....Well we watched the Sabres drop another game tonight on 638-1 on DirecTV. Starting to get frustrating watching this team lose. But at least for now it seems that MSG and DirecTV are ok contract-wise.

I do not know what's TWC's thinking but whatever it is this s**ks big time. With all the bill increases we had last year you would think they negotiate in good faith and get a contract for their subs. Why does TWC thinks they could get a better contract than others? FIOS, comcast got theirs taken cared of what the hell is TWC waiting for?

This is so ironic that I now have MSG in HD on FiOS, and now TWC doesn't have MSG at all. Hopefully it gets settled quickly.

MSG/DTV signed a new deal two years ago. There were no details released but it was signed with no fanfare at all and the overflow HD games were added recently so I suspect there is a good foundation for a long term relationship there.

Cool. Well as these networks get greedier and greedier, one never knows what the future will bring.

MSG pulled at 12:02 AM, at that second I submitted my DirecTV order

Well good for you and I could have saved you $100 too. But I know that money is not important to you. Not too late for you to call them with someone's account number to get the referral credit added. Can be done anytime up to when the actual installation takes place. This is what I did when someone gave me his referral after I ordered. Also, you are always better off talking to a CSR when you place an order because they will offer you more savings. I know this from past experience.

Since Time Warner is no longer paying MSG Entertainment for MSG and Fuse, how much can we expect our bills to decrease? After all, when Time Warner raises rates, they say it’s due to increased programming costs and they have to pass those increases on to customers, so since Time Warner no longer has to pay MSG Entertainment, can we expect the cost savings to be passed on in the form of rate reductions?

I see TW trying to keep my bill down while these broadcasters try to bleed us dry through their excessive demands. Piss on MSG and put them on a sports tier.

I do not think that a lot of TW customers/Sabres fans would like to see MSG on a sports tier. But for sure, the ESPN's and MSG's of the broadcast world are really starting to get out of control with the demands that they are making for broadcast rights fees.

Bob, what we have just witnessed, defines ignorance.

Have you ever witnessed a more hypocritical act ?

Well unlike msg we here in corpus have been missing NBC and FOX for about two and a half weeks now. No resolution has been met and both sides point fingers at each other. Thoughsands of TWC customers here won't be able to watch the game today.

In shall reserve judgment. But please folks...don't be so quick to always put down the alternatives to Time Warner. I hang here because I have friends here and I like to stay in tune with what Time Warner is doing because one day I will once again have cable TV service from them. For sure I temper my criticism of TW with that thought in mind.

CptGemini ? Sorry to hear about the issues down there in Texas, but while MSG is only carried on cable and satellite systems, at least an antenna will pick up your local NBC and Fox affiliates. Right ?

The subscribers end up paying in the long run so I don't understand Time Warner's logic. Time Warner has pissed off a lot of Buffalo Sabres fans so Direct TV might be the way to go.

I checked out the Direct TV lineup and in addition to MSG they also carry WGN, HD Net and HD Movie Network so I might have to pull the trigger too. My dad has Direct TV and he is quite happy with it.

Just so you understand where I was coming from. I was in no fashion suggesting any alterative to TW is a bad thing.
My point is quite simple. Its sorta hard to to swallow the illogical raves of an irresonsible person when they turn around and swallow a pill theve spent endless hours waging war against. Its that "what I got now" is the greatest and any product I no longer use is a useless piece of junk. Now all of a sudden, TW will have the worst guide and worst PQ. DTV will now become the only truly acceptable viewing alternative.
DTV is absolutly a genuine alternative, certainly comparable to anything readily available. I hope and pray my life never could come to a point of revolving around a TV channel. How could someone with that type of shallow mentality make a single decision about the really important things in life ?
