Re: TWC/MSG Update? reminds me of sinclair trying to keep its stations off of comcast. Shockingly right before the super bowl they reached an agreement. Of course sinclair is the same company that asked to be removed from my area when the local cbs affiliate offered fox as a sub channel because they didn't want to compete. Even though comcast offered them money to stay on the area's systems. Hearst broadcasting somehow had no problem with wtae being on the same lineup as abc ohio valley and even still provides the hd feed.
Sorry for the off topic rant. But it is related to broadcasters. I'm sure when fox carries the super bowl again sinclair will be begging comcast to carry it in my area. |

Proof once again.....living in his fantasy world of , "I have no need for human interaction" , is further distancing himself from reality. When the knowledge base of any human, solely revolves around a TV , we can only assume, human conversation is an incapable act. |

 | reply to Steve Mehs said by Steve Mehs: quote: Good luck with your FIOS, I look forward to your posts in the FIOS forum complaining about the channels they don't have.
You mean channels like NFL Network, NFL Red Zone, HDNet, HDNet Movies, MSG, MSG Plus and Fuse? The channels those pigs you call your employer don't offer. The only greed around here comes from those scumbags at Slime Warner Cable who are responsible for taking away the Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres and Knicks out of hundreds of thousands of homes because they [Slime Warner Cable] are too damn greedy. Steve, what happened? I thought Time Warner could do no wrong? You used to flame anyone who dared say anything critical of TWC (such as what a piece of crap their guide is). What's with the total 180? All of a sudden you can't stand them and are switching to satellite which you trashed those of us who did! |
|
 | I have Fios being installed on January 19th. I am not switching because of the msg fiasco. I will save $40 with Fios. I understand that every provider at some point will have a contract issue with MSG. |
|
 | Take a look at this promo set up by TWC for NY Knicks fans! How about the Knicks fans that don't win? Please note the arena they will be playing in Charlotte--Time Warner Arena! Maybe instead of paying for naming rights they just should have paid MSG what they asked. In the long run, the customer is going to end up paying the increase anyway so what's the point?

But at the end of the day, it's all about Rangers hockey. |

 | When two years of negotiations ended on January 1st, Time Warner cable had no idea how many of its customers were upset regarding the NHL's Sabres broadcasts being removed. Right in the middle of NHL season no less. Same is true in New York City with the Knicks, Islanders and Devils. How many customers did Time Warner lose?
Talk about bad public relations for Time Warner regarding the Sabres. This seems to be Time Warner's trend of having conflicts settled at their customer's expense. The dollar loss in revenue has to be staggering. |

 | reply to shoobedevil Since someone close to me works for TWC, and has heard the ins and outs of this whole deal, let me give you the skinny.
Originally MSG came in to contract negotiations, and agreed with Time Warner to extend their contract for the same amount. Now as paper work was being drawn up, TWC was approached by MSG stating that they did not want to do this, and that they are now asking for what amounts to a 52% increase in its charge for TWC to carry them. Now looking at the horrid amount of viewers for fuse, and the only real increase in viewing was during sporting events. TWC could not see any reason to justify raising rates, just to have a network that was not producing the ratings that they would be paying for. TWC then asked for the price to be lowered at negotiations, but MSG was not having any of it. In fact, the last % that MSG came back with was 53% increase.
There is no way that any company in their right mind would pay 53% more, just to have a sub par network that was not producing the ratings, and the only time they could was during sporting events, but still the amount =/= cost. so they dropped them.
now don't get me wrong. I love hockey, and I hate not having on my cable. But you know what, there are always options. I instead of going to sat, and paying what would have been 40.00 more a month, went to NHL.com. Ordered the NHL PASS and now I streem any game i want through my Blu-ray, PS3 or wii. that simple.
I have to agree with TWC here 53% is insane for a sub-par station to be asking for. Maybe if MSG would negotiate to 35% they would then get the revenue. Until then NHL Center ice for me.
Just my 2 cents though. |

JSUL join:2011-09-09 Arlington, TX | I does stink. I feel for you guys. Down here in DFW we have NHL Center Ice and can see all of the games....BUT: One sorry change they have done this year has to do with the channel selection set up. We have 14 channels (2 of which are the mosaic & team stats channels)....so 12 channels are open to schedule the home/away feeds of the games.
Last year they used all 12 channels (930-941)...so you routinely got to see 'replays' of the games at late night hours. This year they are squeezing many of the games on channels 930-937...so any 6 pm (7 est) game never repeats, only the late games, even though they have channels to use....so basically we are getting robbed of many replays.....AND we do not have NHL Network in DFW, even though we have a NHL Team (Stars) so we lose out seeing any game cherrypicked by NHL Net...SAD!!!! |
|
 | I have NHL Center Ice and the Devils and the other local teams are blacked out, so if I got the Gamecenter it would be black'd out as well. Found some streaming sites so its ok until they come to an agreement, but they better do it soon! |

Those of you who cannot watch them on MSG consider yourselves lucky. It wasn't supposed to be this way this season. So happy that I can watch the Syracuse Orange tonight. At least they win once in a while ! Like every game this season so far. -- DirecTV is pretty neat. If you want a referral ask me. |

Not sure why they would bother at this time!
