Re: [speed/latency] Speeds slow on 30/15 connection NH/ME

Update.. I have finally called a tech out, and the tech told me that they have been getting calls like this, and they would go out and find nothing. But they get the same complaints. So I told him that he needs to check with a higher department cause something is wrong, and my inside connection at Verizon tells me that Fairpoint is having "trouble" again. I am sure you can read into that a little bit more for yourself without me having to say what..

However the Tech did bring along an e-mail that talked about their OC48 having "issues". I asked if I could keep a copy, and he declined. However it stated that the executive members of the high speed internet side in NH know of the problem, and are working to "fix" it. However it continued to state about issues blah blah blah blah ect ect ect. Oh so I am here a customer, getting slower than dsl average speeds during the time I use the internet most, and Fairpoint continues to drag their feet, drag their feet. Ignore service tickets, make up lies about fires in co-location bunkers ect ect ect. I have logged 49 issues. The issues are growing nightly now.

And for those that don't know this, if your in an area with Comcast, they have not had any issues in the past year (I am using them as the primary, but still monitor the traffic on fairpoint). So if I were you, migrate out to Comcast. The more that do, the more of us on Fairpoint will be able to enjoy fast speeds again

BTW my speed test on a 12/2 quoted service has been 21down and 6.2 up. I have not seen any drop outs on their connection, and NETFLIX works AWESOME. I would get the Comcast business internet, $64.99 (with modem rental fee included), and then you won't have to worry about the cap. There is a contract...

Then you can subscribe to VOIP phone and soon IP TV

My speeds in Portsmouth seem to be better the last week or so. I'll continue to track it as much as I can in the evening, but I haven't had a lot of time to do that recently. I was able to watch an HD movie or two between 6pm and 10pm, something that I wasn't able to do for at least a few weeks before that. And, speeds were right around advertised levels when I did test them. Anyone else experiencing faster speeds lately with 30/15 service?

HudsonNH

@qwest.net

I continue to have terrible speeds pretty much between 6pm and midnight. Last night was pretty awful, when I ran a speed test I was getting .30Mbps and 650 ping to the Boston server. I did call about getting compensation but they will only go back to the date I originally called about the problem rather than the start of it (better than nothing, next time I'll call right away instead of waiting a week)

And here we go again. From yesterday evening 6PM to about 9AM this morning network slowdown, then a few hours later EVERYTHING become inaccessible and I couldn't even ping anything including Fairpoints office.

And here it is just a little after 9PM and the network slowdown is happening once again.

Everyone, PLEASE call support and open a ticket for these issues. The more people that complain the better chance we have of at least a statement from the company.

The Internet service support number is 800-240-5019

Please note to all that this is just the standard support number and try to have some patience with the first level support person you speak to. There really is nothing they can do other than open a ticket for you.

If you are on FAST/FIOS:
When they tell you that they want to check your modem settings and tell you to "Open up the Internet Explorer", remind them that you are on FAST and have an ONT and not a modem. Hopefully at that point they'll just open your ticket and tell you someone will contact you (theoretically).

I almost thought tonight that the problem was fixed as up until recently I usually started having latency problems around 6:00PM and at 6:30 everything seemed fine. However, sometime after 7:00PM the issue presented itself.

I called last night to check on the status of my ticket since I had been told sometime around the 20th that Fairpoint was hoping to have the issues solved "by the end of the next week" (so I was thinking 27th, 28th) I was told that on the 28th my ticket had been assigned to a field tech and that was the last update. The person i spoke to said they had no other information about the issue. I asked for a note to be made to call me with a status update as soon as possible (guess I'll see how well this works) If I do get a call back and hear anything of note I'll post it here.

I too have called fairpoint, the same old, same old, ticket generated, power cycle the router etc, etc, etc, this is getting old, very old. I now believe Fairpoint has deeper issues then they are letting on, there is no way that you can have so many people have the same exact problem and them not knowing the real story behind it, I'm not buying ther excuses anymore!

Hey all,
Quick question for you. Right now I have Comcast and I am paying almost $80 a month for 22/6. The speeds have been good and pretty consistant but $80 is a bit much to ask for just a connection. Is the FAST service in the Seacoast area still getting bogged down? I have a guy coming Monday to install FAST to my house but if there is a massive problem then I would rather wait till it has been resolved. I pretty much use the internet for streaming netfilx, hulu, etc. and playing a couple of FPS's like battlefield 3. Should i pull the trigger and switch or should I just wait.

Thanks...

I was told in early January by a FairPoint rep that their engineers were aware of the problem, and that it would be resolved by the end of the month. Sure it would.

I received a call from a FairPoint tech support supervisor today in response to my complaint of last evening. According to this person the "network issue" that FAST users are experiencing is now scheduled to be resolved in April. Yes, that's right, April: nearly six months after the response and bandwidth problem on FAST first started to rear its ugly head.

The only word that comes to mind is "pathetic".

I'm going to start calling every night just to make sure they don't close the ticket. None of the people I've talked to have given me any indication of when this issue will be resolved.
