| [HN7000S] Transmitter problem It started last week late thursday night is what my brother said, by the next day it got much worse.. I heard that solar storms can cause the problem but does solar storms continue for up to 3 or more days? When the transmitter is down no one is able to access any kind of internet website, just the Hughesnet system control center page and if I recieve a bad connection from a page then I refresh the page sometimes it will cause the TCP and web acceleration go unoperational.
I have learned if no one trys to load any pages or download anything for about 20 minutes or more then the transmitter will seem just fine but once someone starts loading a page the transmitter goes down and the page will fail at loading. Heres what the message says next to: Transmitt Status, Transmitter unable to obtain an available transmission rate. (TxCode 17)
Will be appreciated for any kind of help, Thanks -- HN7000S/ 1 watt/ pro plus edition/ 4 pc's on a D-Link wired router/ 1-2 pc's on wireless D-Link router with password |

Raminto join:2006-02-28 Whitehorse, YT | I just copied what your modem is telling you about this problem:
""This condition occurs if the transmitter cannot successfully range. Ranging is the process that adjusts your satellite transmitter timing and power. Your satellite transmitter conducts ranging as needed to ensure that it can communicate successfully with the Network Operations Center. Possible causes are:
The transmitter could not achieve enough power to transmit. This is likely caused by an installation problem where the antenna is not accurately pointed or it maybe a transmitter power problem. Check the power supply and make sure that it is Part # 1031105-0001. ""
Maybe a force range will get you out of this. Also make sure that your modem has the right long and lat for your location. -- dw7000/.98m/2watt/Horizon1/1381/256k4/5 /xp sp2/desktop compaq 6330CA/linksys wireless/thinkpad xp pro/Toughbook CF-28 xp pro |

How am i suppose to do this? its "never" done this transmitter problem before in the past and we had hughesnet for 7 years now so why is it just now finally doing this? Could be something broken? -- HN7000S/ 1 watt/ pro plus edition/ 4 pc's on a D-Link wired router/ 1-2 pc's on wireless D-Link router with password |

grohgregDunno. Ask The Chief join:2001-07-05 Dawson Springs, KY | Would you be surprised to own a 7 year old car that never had a problem? Seven years is definitely pushing the normal lifespan of a Hughes transmitter. I've replaced them at 5 and 6 years already. Probably time for either a replacement transmitter, or maybe a system upgrade. The new HN9200 system sounds interesting.
To force range, go to »192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html select Installation, then Force Ranging.

wwts1 join:2011-12-29 Mechanicsville, VA | i dont think you can just purchase one and replace it yourself. You would probably have to call hughesnet and have them open a service call for you. Not sure how much they would charge you, but if you had express repair ($5.00 extra per month) the service call would cost you $29.99 which includes all parts and labor. |

Ask The Chief join:2001-07-05 Dawson Springs, KY | reply to diablo1892 said by diablo1892: how much would a new transmitter cost From a little to a lot, depends upon the type you need - and the source. But - without knowing an installer - it's hard to find just the Ku-transmitter component by itself. More common is the TRIA, which stands for Transmit/Receive Integrated Assembly. That's the whole unit that's attached to the feedarm with two bolts. The transmitter component is the piece with the cooling fins. Of TRIAs, the hardest to find is the original CHINON type. Even Hughes doesn't stock them anymore, although I do see CHINON items on eBay once or twice a year. If that's the kind you have, you'd need to buy a whole used CHINON system (eBay again) then cannibalize it for parts. Most common are the OSIRIS and ANUBIS type, again take your chances on used from eBay. Or refurbished ($130) and new ($200) from somebody like Montana Satellite.
