You dont have the 2.x engine.....you have the 1.x engine....

I can tell. Make me laugh tonight please........share your stories of spoilers and/or cars that are "de badged" on the back of them and we all still know they are the slower version of the car. (Emblems are not correct or for the wrong version of the car.)

I love nissan, but still see people with FAIL.

I don't trust my self to do it without f_king it up, or I'd debadge mine. Nothing says "please don't try to cut me off" like a V8 when they're expecting a 4-banger.

Nothing says phony like Type-R badges and stickers. especially when you know they are stuck onto a base model accord with ground effects kits.

Saw a guy with a 3-series BMW the other day with an M badge. Aside from other obvious differences, the M was the wrong size for that car and in the wrong place. Not sure what the driver thought he was accomplishing, but he sure wasn't fooling anyone.

Now, I'm off to buy some of those cool chrome GM fender vents for the VW.

I debadged my 540i so people won't know I have a v8 with a six speed manual attached to it. Pulling ahead of someone on the highway can be amusing to say the least.

We once had a guy trying to trade in his Mercedes 560SEL. It was a nice enough car, once you got past all the stick on stuff from Pep Boys and the weird aftermarket wheels.

Well, that and the TURBODIESEL badge on the other side of the trunk from the 560SEL. And the soot stains around the exhaust pipe. He had a 300SDL, a good car, but less valuable than the 560SEL it purported to be.

The worst part is he was deluded about it and said he bought it that way, so it was, in fact, a 560SEL. I told him that 3l inline diesel engine would never be a 5.6l V8 gas engine, but he didn't want to hear it. So no deal that day. Too bad. I actually preferred the diesel Benzes.

I just hope he put diesel in it. Gas might have been an issue.

...I dispatch trucks to help out stranded drivers and you wouldn't believe how many fucking people loose the keys / wrenches for aftermarket rims / wheels.....and they give our guys a hard time because they think (on most) a SOCKET wont cause damage......egh.

which is why I keep my cars with factory rims and no special lugs. Any tow truck has one of those 4way lug wrenches and with factory everything I know it will fit what a driver has

I figure with how long I drive a car for special rims will not do anything. and if someone thinks not having "DUB" rims is being poor then they are simply a shallow idiot.

Driving to work 1 morning I saw a 1994 beat up Honda Accord with BMW emblems on the back and front of the car when I passed it. Putting other car companies on a car of another make to me is the greatest fail of badging.

True, but it makes more sense than doing it the other way around.

Back in high school in the '60s, it was cool to rebadge a mediocre car to make people think that it was fast and to rebadge a fast car to make it a SLEEPER. Chromed 'Vette valve covers were a big deal on small block Chevy's. Guess that things haven't changed much.

Personally I love the sleeper concept.. show up at a race against some kid in a riced up car who things new logos make it faster in a car that looks like a heap and then totally blow their doors off when the green light drops.

Late '60s Buick Gran Sports with a 455 Wildcat V-8 were the ULTIMATE sleepers. Pop off the GS signage and it was just your dad's ol' Buick sedan. Top that with a Stage I or II dealer option and you were ready for just about anything.

I don't see the purpose of badging or de-badging. The only thing I ever removed was the stupid crap the dealership liked to go ahead and put on the vehicle for their free advertising.

I am from Miami, FL so if anything I see Maserati's and Ferrari's almost all day, but I have seen a debadged Honda Civic with a green fender, a purple rear bumper, and the rest of the car a sand color. See those kinds of things a lot around here, but for me I see it as people on a budget and just having something from Point A to Point B.
