Horrible Wifi Connection Speed

So, I was just activated today, my official install date is Wednesday. I called in and they activated my ONT, and I had to connect two splitters outside since the cable was cut somehow. I'm running a speed test, and getting DSL-like speeds. What can I check on my end to find out where the problem is? I've tried running tests on all my PC's both hardwired and wireless.

Re: Horrible Connection Speed

Try the Fios Optimizer tool in In Home Agent

Okay I lied...it's only wifi. Did a speedtest from a device hooked directly to the router, and got 43mbit down. The router is directly below me on the floor below, the only thing in between is a floor. Even standing directly next to the router yields a 500-800kbit connection. The signal strength shows as excellent, but the throughput via wifi is just horrible.

Don't know if I need it. The issue is with wifi. Check what I just posted.

Full speeds hardwired, and I already said I tested this directly next to the router. I changed the wifi channel, and it's better but I am only getting 9mbit rather than 35mbit. I have a MI424WR-GEN2.

I think the issue is the amount of AP's near me, and they're spanned across like every channel. No matter what I do, the speed still sucks. After changing it from auto it's better but no matter what channel I put it on, it sucks. Can I put this router on 5ghz?

Here is what's around me: »i39.tinypic.com/2eyesnk.gif

So not much I can do to fix this other than running cable?

What is the router set to b g n ? what type of card are you using in your computer and what wireless spec does it use? Go into the router and just turn on what is needed, ie b only g only or N only also turn off any encryption as a test to see if that helps

I've tried every setting. Every PC has this issue, Wireless G or N. Tried setting to compatibility mode, and tried N only. Nothing fixes it. I'm convinced it has to do with the saturation of frequencies in the area since switching to channel 1 speeds it up, only for web browsing though. Media streaming still sucks. Does Verizon provide 5ghz routers?

I already have a WRT54G. How would I go about disabling wifi and hooking that router to the Actiontec, physically speaking?
