 | Galaxy Nexus - Can get phone connection through Wifi in room I have a Verizon Fios router in my basement. I cannot get my Galaxy Nexus to make or receive phone calls when in the basement. I can access the web, but when I attempt to dial out,. it just sits in dialing and rarely connects. When I leave the room and go to the second level it can make calls. I have tried to bridge a Netgear router and it makes no difference. I tried to make calls at a friends house through his FIOS router in the basement and it worked. |

To make phone calls through your internet connection you would need a femtocell . Verizon calls them Network extenders . They are made for Verizon by Samsung -- »www.maximumsignal.net/ |

Correct T-mo has an app for their android phones thats simply called something like wifi-calling.
There may be a way though to get a working wifi-calling app for verizon android phones but I am not too sure on where to find it. I am an admin on an android support site and I do recall it being talked about but thats about the extent of what I can remember this morning lol. |

 | smart phones (at least on verizon) connect via data if available and 1x if not. disabling your data connection wont ever prevent you from taking or receiving phone calls or sending/recing texts. the only way to ensure you're making a data call aka voip is to put the phone on airplane mode and then enable wifi. |
