 | Anyone Else Having Blackout Issues With NBA LP? The other day I was flipping through and noticed one of the NBA League Pass games was blacked out, I cant remember which game, but it did not involve the NY Kicks or NJ Nets. I wrote it off as a onetime glitch. Well tonight its all screwed up. The Cavaliers feed of the Charlotte/Cleveland is blacked out (it shouldnt be), but the Bobcats feed is in the clear. And the Atlanta/Chicago game is blacked out as well. These are the HD feeds of the games the SD feeds are fine.

xthug join:2001-11-24 Rego Park, NY | welcome to my world and you will not like the answer. the hd lp games can only be seen on the new samsung or cisco boxes. i did get 1or2 but now that i changed boxes they all come in. scoured the twc ny/nj site and found a small blurb telling me this. |

 | That makes no sense at all. I fail to understand why the box would cause the blackout issue. That is being caused at the cable headend. No cable box will allow you to view a channel if it has a slate that says 'This program is blacked out in your area'. And besides, Ive had a Cisco box for two years now. First the 8640 and now the 8642 for the past year. My NHL Center Ice HD channels come in fine, but again last night there was a game that was blacked out that shouldnt have been
I never really cared for basketball much, but wanted to try to get into it. Id like to root not for the home NY Knicks but for the LA Clippers who are Buffalos real home team so NBA LP would be required. Considering the faulty blackouts, I dont trust Time Warner to deliver the games in HD they say they will. I might just order NBA LP from DirecTV next week. -- 2011 Time Warner Cable Forum @ DSLReports Poster Of The Year! Voted Unanimously on by ChillyCat and Elyria!

 | More than likely due to backup receivers. Each sat receiver authorized for carriage is assigned a DMA. That assigned DMA is what determines services to be blacked out. My guess is your headend there is on a backup feed from another location and that is why you saw the blackouts banner listed. Probably need to call them up and let them know so they can either swap over to their local receiver feed or they will need to get with the provider to see why its listing blackout banners for them. Similar issue here but once game was set to air it showed. Just the time leading up till it started the banner was showing unavailable in your area. |

 | reply to Steve Mehs Another reason why an NBA game would be blacked out on league pass is that it's being broadcast on another channel. When it happens again look through the guide for all the basketball games and you can probably find it.
Same holds true for other sporting broadcasts. |
|
 | None of the blackouts I mentioned the same game on national channels. And besides, that doesn't explain why the SD feeds are not blacked out. And it doesn't explain the fourth sentence in my first post: The Cavaliers feed of the Charlotte/Cleveland is blacked out (it shouldnt be), but the Bobcats feed is in the clear. |

 | Not all areas have all of the HD channels for the sports packages. |

 | reply to hobgoblin You mean other than Time Warner of Northeast Ohio? Go to timewarnercable.com and enter the zip code 44108 (Cleveland, OH) or 16501 (Erie, PA) and tell me how many GAME and TEAM HD channels you count. Hint, the answer is three total. TEAM HD on 760, GAME HD on 740 and GAME 2 HD on 739. Time Warner in San Diego doesn't even have those three channels as zero of the sports package channels are in HD. Oceanic in Hawaii doesnt have all the sports package HD channels either. Thats three real time exampes, if I had the energy, Id go though a few more line ups. -- 2011 Time Warner Cable Forum @ DSLReports Poster Of The Year! Voted Unanimously on by ChillyCat and Elyria!

The Orlando feed on 1571 is fine. The SD feeds of the game on 1421 (Sac) and 1422 (Orl) are coming in fine as well. -- 2011 Time Warner Cable Forum @ DSLReports Poster Of The Year! Voted Unanimously on by ChillyCat and Elyria!
