freeze,

Thanks. I got as far as getting 3.1.3 back in but to what I understand due to a change that 4.0 did now the phone wont ether unlock nether would it jailbrake so the phone is stuck on invalid sim.

my son is very mad at me

So my last resources is to buy him another one

Oh man

So there's no chance in upgrading from 3.1.3 to 4.0.1 and trying to re-unlock?

I admit it's a minefield trying to navigate all the version numbers, and I hope you are able to find a replacement, but it'd be a shame that software is the only thing holding you back from a working unlocked iphone.

I'm selling my old iPhone 3GS 32-GB (Black). Got it listed on Craigslist right now: »worcester.craigslist.org/mob/2774143188.html

It's got iOS 5.x on it but my understanding is you could grab the 3.1.x file(s) and restore it back to that version.

I did the jailbreak thing once on it but then restored it to the current image. Didn't have time to mess around with all that.

If you have any interest in it let me know via PM and we can talk. Rather sell it to someone that's been around here for a while than deal with another Craigslist fool wasting my time.

I just finished completing all the levels in "The Creeps" and restored the phone back to factory default before I get sucked into some other game.

Just did some quick searching... don't think my 3GS will help much without some tinkering:

From LifeHacker, discussing going from iOS 4.x back to 3.1.3 (»lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-do···os-313):

"Update: If you're on 3GS and having trouble with this method, reader Richard notes that for 3GS users: "Apple started signing their restore files requiring iTunes to "Phone home" and get permission to restore. Usually within 24 hours of a new firmware release, Apple stops signing the old versions preventing you from restoring back to an older version. The advice in your article about how to downgrade to 3.1.3 no longer works [for 3GS] because a few days ago Apple stopped signing that firmware." If you're a 3GS user experiencing this problem, check out this forum dedicated to 3GS downgrading."

That is the exact link that I follow and got me in the mess I am in now.

Dealing with all the potential issues is part of the reason I just put things back to original. Now I'm glad I did it almost immediately.

Hope you get it all worked out and reduce the son Aggro back to normal levels.

I did the same thing.... it is recoverable...

on youtube look for ian559fresno and watch his videos. I was stuck in the recovery/invalid sim mode as well.

I had to get another AT&T sim, but that part was easy. After I reunlocked and rejailbroke, it works fantastic now.
