It's quote possible that the printer in question will only allow you to set it up for wifi with WPS.
Another possible situation is that he doesn't want to move the printer to another room in order to hook it up via cable so that he can set it up for wifi.

This is exactly why.
As for the link posted, there's no option when logged in.
The WPS button on the front seems to be disabled as pressing it does nothing. |

Depending on the printer you are generally able to connect it through USB and do all the required network setup. |

I've had this problem too. The WPS setting in the firmware wasn't even there so unfortunately I had to move the printer to the other room and connect it via USB. When I called tech support, the WPS menu apparently WAS there when he looked at my modem remotely. |
