[Xtreme] Westell 6200 vs. Motorola 2210

My DSL went out on January 1 after getting unusually slow on December 31. After a long time on the phone with the AT&T tech, he advised me to replace my modem, so I ordered one while on the phone. It hadn't arrived yesterday, so I went over to the local AT&T store and bought one - a Motorola 2210. Today the one I ordered from AT&T was delivered - a Westell 6200. I can return either one ($75) and need some advice on which one to keep. Any advice from the experts would be appreciated. By the way, the Motorola 2210 seems to work OK after 24 hrs. of use. The Westell is still in the box.

none

i HATE the 2210's, unless they finally fixed them they tend to overheat after a month or so. stick with the 6200 in my opinion.

Both modems have a one year warranty and they both have the same gui......
The att store would have the quicker refund

2210's are being cut out last I heard. That Westell should have an f90 model # on the back of it and is what is staring to stock on trucks a/o now. ADSL2+ capable. It's the unit being sent to IPDSLAM subs here in our area.

Came across a new black Motorola someone had just setup that was sent to them, so maybe there is a mix. Had not seen one of those in person until the other day, didn't get the model #.

No real opinion either way, if it works it works.

Thanks to each of you for your responses and advice. I'm going to switch over to the Westell 6200 and return the 2210 to the AT&T Store. If I encounter any problems, I'll report back here.

Edit: The 6200 is installed and working fine. The 2210 is re-boxed and on its way back to the AT&T Store this week.

Did you use the DHCP (routing) in the 6200? I have been told it will only support one address and you have to use something else if you want more than one internet connection from this device at a time.

The 6200 dhcp server can only allocate one ip address, if you know how to manually set the ip info on a computer and use a ethernet switch that will allow the modem to support multiple computers
