| Unstable connectivity Wireless connection Net Stumbler help Hi all, i posted yesterday here
»Is wireless router distance to laptop a problem?
In an industry forum. Now I have some data i can show hoping someone familiar with wireless might help with. The snippet shows a Net Stumbler trace of my Network and alongside it an alias(?) with MAC address 0.
The alias does not appear initially in the trace, but does later and that's when my SSID 1984D3 drops out. Can anyone hazard a guess towards the problem being 1 of 1. a problem with my laptop ( 9 years old) 2. or the new N600 linksys modem, 3. or simply interference / distance?
The problem exists in my house (described in link above ) and now it happened at work after 2 hours in an environment with a pair of 2.4GHZ wireless phones but closer to the buffalo wireless router than at my home. On reboot and second test at work, still running after 3 hours without the dropout. S/N ratio -40 DB at work, -54 DB at home.
My laptop WLAN adapter is a Broadcom 802.1 b/g
Thanks in advance. |

 | reply to RayGeode It'd help to have a second laptop running Network Stumbler at the same time as well as a comparison. If both laptops show the drops, likely the router. If the other laptop doesn't show em, likely an issue with the 9yo laptop.
Also, what channel was this on? Been awhile since I used Network Stumbler, but it looks like yours and a bunch of other 2wire devices are running on the same channel.
