 | Magicplus All the ads for this product claim a computer is not necessary......well an internet connection IS necessary the only difference in this version Magicjack Plus the computer does not have to be turned ON...an Ethernet cable MUST be connected to the Magicjack in order to work.....why not tell the whole story....a disappointed customer. | Do you ask when you buy a new car if it needs gas to run?? How exactly would the MJ work since it needs an internet connection if not via an ethernet cable to your router? You do realize that the I in VOIP stands for Internet right?? Oh and your PC needs to have power to work so yes you have to plug the power cord into an outlet...
Amazing................. -- Joe Sica |

 | reply to John Martin Might be advisable to run power to the router and high speed modem, as well. |

 | WOW good point But if the modem and router Mfg didn't advertise to do that?? How would one know to supply power to them??? -- Joe Sica |

ipman join:2010-08-31 San Jose, CA | There is one thing that is quite annoying. They claimed no computer needed but a computer is needed in order to activate MJ+. By that I mean not just register via a browser but actually need to run their program.
Maybe MJ assumes their customers are not tech savvy enough. But I found it intrusive to run program off their USB stick. MJ does not have a good reputation and I will never install their program and went with NetTALK instead. There is no need to install any software in order to use NetTALK DUO. |
