I don't know if someone can help me with my question but here goes. Currently, we in Quebec only pay GST on Teksavvy's services. Is this going to stick or are we, some day soon, going to pay PST and/or HST on Teksavvy's services?

That's more of a question for the Quebec government. However, if they are really harmonizing with the GST this time, then it would apply (just like it did in Ontario when they harmonized the taxes).

Unless, of course, Quebec exempts such services from the provincial portion of the tax.

Which they CAN do, as Ontario, BC, and NS have recently done for various commodities, and as Ontario STILL needs to do for GASOLINE, plus Home ELECTRICITY & HEAT !

@videotron.ca

Kmon Marc, we need at least an ETA, not a rumor on the forum.

Fibe is not available where i live. So it gonna be cable for sure, teksavvy or Ebox. I have t'ill monday to canceled my videotron cable internet (30 days in advance).

I can understand the situation of negociation or calculation on your side, but give us something.

Thanks.

That's why I started this thread, outside of the other huge one.

Hopefully, since the period to switch to the new model is coming soon, TSI will at least announce when they plan on having something to say about this.

Like others here, I really wish to encourage companies like TSI and hope that they'll have something interesting to offer their Quebec cable subscribers.

I'll have to give TSI a 30 days notice soon, I think my anniversary date is around the 8th.

If your switchting either way What does it matter when the notice comes as long as its within the next 2 weeks you;d have time to signup for teksavvy or ebox and such and get the install done. Just call videotron give 30 days notice and wait. your true cutoff time won;t be until about 2 weeks of the 30 days has gone by

I think currently TSI has only 300mbps connection to videotron network. I don't think they can absorb the massive movement from dsl to Cable right now. This is probably one of the reason they can't announce their new rate for Quebec Cable.

We've actually set a GigE connection this past fall.

They upgraded their 300Mbps link to a 1Gbps in October

@teksavvy.com

Yeah GigE won't cut it if they offer 60mbps @ 55$ like Ebox. Looks like I have to switch too.

I am upset that my 10 mbit dsl connection is now going to be MORE expensive than Ontario's 12 mbit (rightfully it used to be the opposite). I am hoping that this is an honest mistake and that it will be corrected... Otherwise, if you couple this with the dryloop fee, the 10 mbit DSL is now costing $54/month + tax. Not cool.

I am looking into switching to Ebox cable now and saving some cash. After all these years with Tek, I wish I could stay... they treated me well. But with no QC cable tariffs and our 10 mbit DSL tariff...

If an upgrade is required to "cut it" then one from Videotron wont take long to be applied. It's an aggregated connection we have with Videotron, & last Upgrade we requested took less then a Month to accomplish. Compared to out vendors we use, this is rather done very quickly. So if capacity is required I'm sure we won't have much issues getting up to par for it.

What do you mean by "cut it"? And do you have the authority to ask someone higher up what's going on with Cable? We need to know what's happening...

Still no updates & when we do we will post it. Until then, all we ask is you sit tight & we will give you information sooner than later.

Just wait a bit, I'm sure Tek will come up with something soon
It's not like your life depends on it, and anyway Ebox will not go out of business in the next month or so, so you'll still be able to switch if nothing interesting comes out of Tek's offering.

Same here.

It's not an end of the world thing. I like TSI and plan on staying with them. The eBox announcement is pretty exciting and gets my hopes up for something in the same ballpark from TSI.

Hopefully, something will be announced in the next week but as I said, and ack and an ETA would be nice.

Which was nice, because it was scary when my one tiny little cable modem could use up 20% of all of your bandwidth at a time:P
