 | Yep, I did not read your links, but I most likely have in the past. I have been going through a phase where I want to access my computer over the 3/4G network from my phone. I tried to set up several servers on the computer only to find that I can not monitor a certain port, because all incoming ports are blocked unless I get a static IP address.
If I really, really wanted to use this feature, I would buy the static IP address. I am retired and just tinker around with things, trying to see if they really work.
Funny thing though, is that I went onto the Hughes Net site looking to purchase a static IP and only found that a business account had the feature. I suppose, I would have to call Hughes and say, "How do I get the static IP address for an additional $10 bucks a month."
Seems like if a company wanted mo' money, mo' revenue, they would make it easy for customer to add features. |

They would just as soon that consumer grade users not get any and leave em all for business users.
This might change if they decide to activate IP6 on the new satellites. -- 7000S SatMex 5 1050, Dlink wirless |

Arion join:2006-07-09 Marquette, MI | I got a static IP a few years ago to use Vuze with. It cost me $10 a month and was pretty painless. The only problem was about 6 months ago they changed my static IP without telling me and that caused me some trouble before I figured it out. -- HN7000S IA-8 1070 / 8-PSK 3/4 (14) / Router:67.142.140.83 /.74 1 watt / Pro plus/ Amd Phenom II 955 Quad core, 4gb ram / Win7 Ultimate X64 / Opera 10.10 / www.bigbaywx.com |
