BTW... 2 additional neighbors of mine were getting Fios installed today.. |

 | So, slight issue. After swapping the boxes, I turned on the power, and...... nothing is showing up on the screen. At all...... TV sais that nothing is plugged in. Can't find the source. Any ideas?
I have a Samsung HDTV, a Pioneer DVD player, and a Yamaha reciever as well. |

I have a Samsung HDTV, a Pioneer DVD player, and a Yamaha reciever as well. I jumped the gun. Didn't realize I need to call verizon with a special code so they could activate the device. That's sorted now. Although I still can not access youtube widget even though verizon media manager is installed on my computer and currently running. Any thoughts?? |

I estimate could save about $80 a month with triple play over what I now pay to Time-Warner with more channels and a faster internet speed. What is holding me back are the horror stories I have read on other forums about Verizon customer service. I am too old to spend a lot of time on hold waiting for a person to help me. To those sho have switched - how bad is Verizon customer service as compared to other services? |

The good news is that the product is so so good that you really shouldn't need to deal with them for anything other than placing your order. |

 | The product indeed is excellent, but the billing situation is almost pathetic. I have had to call to correct my bill every month since FiOS TV was installed last October. Verizon seems to think I have seven boxes installed rather than two. They correct the bill and the seven boxes don't show up on my equipment list but the next month they are still charging for seven. I have escalated this to their New York office and still haven't completely resolved the problem. |

 SRF26 join:2000-04-03 Jamaica, NY | From my experience, once FiOS is installed it functions with no issues. After 30 years with TWC, I had FiOS installed 12/12/11 and haven't any issues requiring a CS call. I think adding services to an existing account can lead to issues, but if you go with Triple Play from day one (as I did), it should be pretty painless.

 | reply to billhere Absolugely agree that Verizon's fiber infrastructure is more or less rock solid. The weak spots are the customer service system and the dvr/stbs.
My dvr died recently, before it died it had all sorts of problem. The upgrade to img 1.9 made it worse. The replacement, refurbished too, they sent had problems as well. Got a new one by dispatched tech, this one is much better.
When it got this month's bill, I was charged an extra short term dvr rental fee. I guess getting two replacements in a short amount of time confuses the billing system. In addition, the additional $10 discount for having one-bill still has not shown up automatically on my bill.
So another call to support.
Rant to improve vz? Stop giving customers refurbished boxes! Fix the billing system! |

 | Just as an aside, Back in 2000 my family purchased an entry level yamaha 5.1 receiver surround sound system. We had the system hooked up with TWC and we could never get the rear speakers to work unless we were watching a dvd. Since we have FIOS installed we have been getting full 5.1 surround sound on almost all programming that is in HD, which includes movies, Rangers games, and other sporting events. We always thought our Yamaha equipment was crap, but it turns out that after all these years, it was TWC that was crap. |
