1 edit | [Malware] Excessive uploading I have a laptop in the company that is "hogging" the bandwidth. When plugged into the network it starts uploading data at a fantastic rate. After 6 days at being plugged in the Receive count was at 343 Mb and the Send count was well over 3 Gb. This starts to happen as soon as the unit is hooked up to the network. I can monitor the rate using the Network Status window and with NO programs running, the byte count rate changes almost faster than I can watch. This laptop with Win 7 is used for email only, (for the most part, there may be occasional web surfing).
I have used Spybot, Ad-Aware, McAfee and Malwarebytes, all updated, and they find nothing. The company also uses the Sonicwall Fire Wall. The McAfee is part of the Sonicwall and is updated daily.
In addition the are no hijackings of webpages, the home page, etc. No ad pages are popping up as well as no internet sites claiming virus infections. I can use the laptop to go where I will with no interference. No emails are being sent out. Yet as soon as the device is hooked to the company's network, the rest of us can hardly go online or send emails. Also please understand that short of the bandwidth issues when the laptop is part of the network, no other PC in the company id experiencing any problems.

Re: [Malware] Excessive uploading I'm afraid we no longer utilize HiJackThis in this forum.
Our forum does have a ''Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance" guideline - that we outline in our clickable header
The pre-steps are a requirement here, no exceptions
However, in addition, with regard to your comment above "I have a laptop in the company"..and your reference to a "network"
If this computer is part of a work environment please see: »***Just a Reminder*** - What is SCU?
..specifically this:
We do not handle business or work environments here. Or those on a network of pc's.
Please consult your IT and/or administrator for assistance.
Can you please clarify? |
