I know DSL is available to me, but I am wondering if I can get it without having phone service with it? Does anyone know if this is an option and if so, how to go about ordering it. TIA
Cheers -- I don't play the field, I rule the sidelines!
I believe that is an option throughout FairPoint territory.
Keep in mind when DSL shares a phone line DSL "rides for free." If you opt for dry DSL, no phone line, there will be a line rental charge. May not end up saving much. You may want to look into downgrading to some sort of lifeline phone service. That way you still have backup POTS phone line during emergencies.
reply to Cheers Yes it is completely possible to just order DSL and not a phone line. Just call up and tell them that you would like to order DSL only. If there is any other option (company) then I would go with that as Fairpoint is terrible. If this is the only option then I guess stick it out. They will more then likely charge you 34.99 for the modem but the installation will be free. It is not more expensive to just have DSL without a phone line.
