[Sprint] Ever moved? Check those surcharges for state specific f

I just looked at my Sprint bill in detail.
Apparently, when I lived in Kansas I had to pay a $2.99 fee for Kansas State University. I haven't lived in Sprint's home state of KS since Jan 2008 and continue to pay Sprint $2.99. Even though my billing address is listed as Missouri and the site clearly states that my billing address is by default my "use" location for assessing taxes, I am paying KS specific taxes.

I emailed sprint about this and they said someone would get back to me in 7 days time. I let them know that my address was listed correctly, but apparently there is a secret "Sprint eyes only" listing that has our "use" address as the former address.

If you have moved since you initially signed up with Sprint you might want to make sure your secret "use" address is correct or you could be paying state specific taxes. Of course, if it's cheaper in your old state, maybe you don't want to fix this.

Got it changed through sprint. So if you move and change your billing address, Sprint will not change your use address or your taxes. You have to call and have them do that. Do you want your tax dollars going to a different state than the one you live in?

Goofy!!

I'm calling bull on that because they changed my address without my asking them to. I got a P.O. Box and when you move, those little yellow stickers alert companies that the address they have is incorrect.

Long story short, because they took it upon themselves to change my address for me, my taxes went up about $3 because I'm charged not only a state fee, but a county and a city fee. I had to call to get them to revert it back to my physical address.

By calling BS on that, are you saying that I am making this up and that it didnt happen?

Or are you just saying that something different happened to you?

I'm not sure if this is the result of them fixing things, but it used to be, if you requested e-statements, you could change your address to another random address located in another state such as the one with the lowest cell phone taxes and that is what you would end up paying your taxes based on. Now it sounds like they have an address hard coded to the system, or maybe you pay taxes based on the area code the number is from.

Verizon is doing the taxes based on the phones Area code now. This is a recent change.

Read my post again. I'm calling BS on the fact that they can't change the info. They sure didn't waste any time doing it to me.

This is just one of the many reasons I'm going to be extricating myself from their grasp come April. So much BS with them it isn't funny.

Also, don't go putting words in my mouth. I never ever said that it didn't happen to you. If I did, I would have come out and say it.

OK got it. I should have written "may not change" instead of "will not change" Calling "BS" seemed confrontational, sorry.
