Re: Velcom, Acanac, price change, when ? Thanks for putting the prices in perspective. I got used to (perhaps like many) the great prices and speeds offered by companies like Acanac, and was upset that they were being forced to raise their prices.
To be honest though, fundamentally I don't think comparing to Bell is appropriate. They're pulling everyone else's rates up to the absurdity of their own. It's obvious the customer gets more with a company like Acanac than with Bell, but with these price increases, Bell still gets the same (larger) amount of money than before.
Why couldn't they be forced to separate what money is going where? ie. this is for infrastructure upgrades, this is for line maintenance, etc. Isn't this how electricity companies do it? The invoice of our hydro company is a great challenge to understand, but at least it is thorough and it gives less space for 'creative accounting' and duping of the customer.
Just because Bell wanted to yank the choke chain real hard last year, and the CRTC didn't allow it, doesn't mean it's a total win. The ISPs still have to heel to Bell.
What's going on with LLU? No one seems to be talking about it anymore. |

 | For Quebec/Videotron cable 30Mbps
Electronix Box 250GB plan = $50 and no peak hour speed limit policy.
If Acanac able to have the same price $50, but unlimited bandwidth with reduce speed limit to 15Mbps at peak hour policy then count me in. |

 | reply to Acanac Inc I would really love to know specifically why you haven't released the Quebec cable prices at the same time than your DSL prices. |

Acanac Inc Premium join:2007-03-05 Mississauga, ON reply to BaCkLaSH86 We may provide some interim rates that are a bit more competitive. For the final rates we are still waiting to see if we can properly implement our throttling strategy during peak hours. |

 | How is this have anything to do with final rates ?
They released the DSL prices earlier this week that include this strategy.
They are going for the same strat on cable. so....
They sure can post new prices and then just implement on cable side thoses "throttling strategy" afterward. |
|
 | reply to Vntalk So what if they cannot implement this strategy on the cable side ? Are they still going to post new cable prices next week ? I doubt that.
So if they are not 100% sure about that strategy on the cable side, why are they telling that they are going to have the most competitive prices ?
Something is telling me that they a sure they can implement on cable side... bringing my question about not posting cable prices at the same time than the DSL prices. |

Much better than trying to do the same thing while hoping for a different result (ie the definition of insanity). |

1 edit | reply to BigBenBeaub At this very moment we are finishing up our account setup automation for the new DSL service plans. If everything goes well we will publish the new plans and rates this evening.
As for the Cable rates for both Ontario and Quebec we will make them available to the public by the end of next week. Like I mentioned in a previous post they may be interim rates until our rate limit strategy is fully implemented on the Cable side. |

Something is telling me that they a sure they can implement on cable side... bringing my question about not posting cable prices at the same time than the DSL prices. They were pretty clear in the forum that they will throttle Rogers, Videotron and DSL.
They even stated who and when the throttle will happen. That is, based upon your internet terms.
But they stated they don't like people using the word throttle since it makes them look bad and would prefer you call it, "enhancement of bandwidth allocation".
The only thing they did not have completed yet was the final price. This is due next week. |

That mean 2 prices update for cable in a short period of time ?
How long before "fully implemented" ? week ? weeks ? months ? |

Samgee join:2010-08-02 canada kudos:2 | If you sign up with them now before the rates change you can get a year for $40 a month 24/1 unlimited. Best price around plus all the extras that come with it and you won't be subject to the rate limits until your renewal date. |

That is not the case on Quebec side ! 30Mbps for 65$ for only 120Gb/month this is a no go |

 | Yes. They will be released later this week. |

|
 | Yes they will. |
|
 | We hope 30M/s unlimited cable can get 59.99 per month in Montreal.
By the way, which cable modem can get the best performance in ACANAC 30M cable speed.
Moto 6120 or DCM 475? how about the price of these modems if we buy them from Acanac? |
|
 | reply to Vntalk Now I am aware that DSL rates went up for Acanac will this happen for cable as well or they will get slashed. For eg will 24Mbps which is 39.99 with contract come down or go up??? |
