[help] GoDaddy Webhosting Question?

I am helping my brother-in-law set up his website and have a question.

He already had a domain with GoDaddy.com which I was not aware that it came with free economy hosting, but appears to have ads with the pages.

He purchased the economy package. I am now trying to set up his website with the new hosting package he bought, but when I try to add his previous domain name to "Hosting - Web - Economy - Windows - 1 year (recurring)" instead of "Economy Hosting - Windows (Free with Domain)" I get "Domain XXXXXXXXXX.com is not available for this hosting account. Setup can not continue because this domain is being used by the following application: Hosting."

However, when I go this his current home page, it is showing GoDaddy.com ads on it, which we will not want and was reason for buying hosting space. What do I need to do in the account manager to move his domain name to the package he just bought?

Thank you

You have quickly seen that Godaddys web management is a real clusterfudge. You may save yourself a lot of headaches now and in the future if you simply leave the domain at GoDaddy (update name servers) and have the actual hosting at a separate provider. Maybe something like Surpass Hosting which offers CPanel for their hosting accounts.

When I had our SSL certificates with Godaddy, just updating those was a pain in the ass.

They have always been good to me for refunds when requested, even by phone. You may be able to get your answer here from someone else who uses them though and be on your way to no issue.
