| [DIRECTV] Sat + Comcast + DECA DIAG 1 | DIAG 2 |
My sister had her DTV upgraded to have whole home service and all HD boxes installed. She has Comcast for Phone and Internet. The Comcast modem and internet router are upstairs in the family room. The DTV splitter is in the basement.
The DTV installer tried to piggyback on the Comcast coax (see Diag1) using one of these splitters (»www.hollandelectronics.com/catal···Diplexer). Her Comcast internet and phone stopped working.
Can I change this to what you see in Diag2, running a new coax up to the room with the Comcast modem, router and DECA? |

you drawing Marked power if that is a p-21 and you are using the spare leg of it that is wrong also and will not work,
I suggest you have her call back in and they will send someone to correct it at no charge. You can run a two way Green label splitter from the receiver If its in the same Family room

Split the incomming rg6 one to receiver and the other to the deca. |

| Thanks for this info. I am going to get the splitter from solidsignal that you mentioned and split the coax that is going to the TV in the Family room. This way I don't need to run a new coax up from the basement. This will be perfect.
It is clear that the installer didn't really understand that he was hosing up the Comcast line. Its sad, but with any of these companies you never know what kind of experience is going to show up at your door.
Thanks! |

| reply to westdc One more question if you don't mind. I'd like to get setup with new coax crimping tool and connectors. I've been using this style crimper and connectors for probably 20 years. State-of-the-art stuff back in the day, but compressino is the way to go now. Those old connectors are really hard to screw in and out too.
Can you suggest a compression tool and style of connectors I should buy for general home TV coax work? I like to do things right, which is why I bought the state of the are crimper tool 20 years ago, but compression is the way to go today. I guess I need something like this... and a bag of connectors to go with it. How about a stripper of some kind?
I figure if I can get it all from Solid Signal I'll combine the shipping when I order that splitter.
Thanks again! |

Home depot will have a compression crimper and rg6 compression connectors as well.
