 | [Speed Problem] Elite on 2Wire 2701HG-B getting only 2976kbps/44 I just noticed this week that I don't seem to be getting anything close to the 6mbps that is advertised on my Elite connection.
My 2Wire 2701HG-B right now is reporting 2976kbps down, and 448 kbps up, and the ATT speed test is giving me a paltry 1.64Mbps down, and 0.32Mbps up.
I did an online chat with an ATT representative last night, and it seems that they don't know what they are talking about. The rep told me to get a 2 port filter, even though I don't have a single phone (or any non-DSL device) installed in the house, and I'm not even paying for phone service here. Nevertheless, I went out and got the filter today for $10, and installed the router into the DSL port of the 2 port filter, and the speed is the same. I'm leery to go back on the chat and waste another hour of my time with them.
I have done an analysis of a download with wireshark and it the graph looks like a serrated knife, but it never peaks above about 3mpbs, which makes sense, since the DSL modem is actually only trained at under 3mbps currently.
Any ideas on what I can try? |

| Your noise margins are low marginal at best and your attenuation is far too high for 6MB service. Either something is wrong with your line (try plugging the modem in at the NID and testing) or you have been sold a service that your location can't possibly support. |

 | Unfortunately I'm in an apartment, I walked all around the outside and did not find anything that looks like a NID. I guess at this point I should be requesting a line check?
I tried a different port in the house with the same results. |
