Re: What Happened to Fox News Best DVR on the market? Talk to me when you get a receiver that records 5 at once, lol!!! J/K. U-Verse is ok for someone who does not plan on recording alot of HD or likes sub-par HD PQ. I have had all 3 and I plan on staying right where I am at. |

| Note I said arguably? I'm talking about interface, not how many at once! Heh, if I need to record more, I get another DVR! lol I can do 4 at once though. DISH is coming out with the Hopper and Joey which are whole-house DVRs that can do 3, 5, 6, or 10 at once... |

| Well duh, I already have 2 DVR's myself but it is nice to see D* producing a DVR with more than 2 tuners which is what I currently have. We are not big "recorders" so 1 DVR that can do 5 with 1TB would suit our household just fine. DISH does not have whole home yet? Man, even U-Verse has that, lol, J/K. I know you said arguably, just wanted to add a little humor to this thread =). |

1 edit | LOL comparing U-verse to Dish, come on man, that's stooping low .
Even without WHDVR Dish blows U-verse away and (for me) beats Direct for channel selection. Direct is still way better than UV and I might switch someday to Direct for promos, who knows! Either way will never touch UV TV with a thousand-foot pole, unless something changes!
Dish currently has "sneakernet" in which you transfer recordings between DVRs with an external hard drive. Hopper and Joey which are out soon will be WHDVR AND have compatibility with the EHDs I currently use. IMO the EHD implementation on Dish is better than Direct, but hey I'm not looking for a pissing match lol!
EDIT: Changed "Sish" to Dish. Typo. |

| I know, I am not at all trying to start one either lol. They both are good, I just prefer one better. I was joking about the U-Verse and Dish. i am just surprised they do not have it out yet since most competitors have it. Channel selection? If you ask me I think all providers channel selections suck. 75% of the crap I have I do not watch at all. How many info channels do we need, lol. Another joke for ya, your HD channels (some) on Dish are part-time, lol, as D* are full-time. I hate D* commercials=) |

| Our discussion is totally off topic, but oh well lol. I agree about 75% of channels sucking. It's a shame that the greedy channel providers won't ever do a-la-carte. I was wondering for a while how long that E* was planning on competing without WHDVR, but it's not too late for them, Hopper/Joey will be out in a month from now!! Can't wait!! I'll probably go to it if it's as good as it sounds! Compared to U-verse's WHDVR, Dish even without WHDVR is a hell of a lot better.
lol part-time HD RSNs, yes it is a problem, but Dish is in the process of getting rid of the old legacy receivers that aren't compatible with 8PSK. Once that's done with, not too long from now, Dish should have the bandwidth needed for full-time HD RSNs . D* has pulled G4 (I am not ashamed to admit that I do watch G4 sometimes) and took forever to add AMC HD and still doesn't have BBCA HD. Just sayin' lol .
I hate E* commercials too, but yeah I've seen D*'s commercials, pretty bad too lol. |

| G4? Really? J/K. I use to watch it now and then when I had U-Verse. BBCA is hardly even pay attention to and AMCHD or not is not a big deal either. Technology-wise I do not know why D* does not have some in HD yet. Kinda dumb if you ask me. Oh well, as far as FOX news goes someone can have my channel, I do not even watch it, lol. |
|
 | Hah, no company is perfect, but Direct and Dish are a lot closer to it than U-verse ... |
