| Perhaps OT, but I also have a very old Toshiba laptop that runs Win 98FE....yup, first edition. But, it can run a live CD one of the smaller Linux distros just fine.
Just a thought.

No. A physical laptop - separate machine wanted. I am (thanks again) aware I could run old school windows on a flash drive, disc, etc.
