[Troubles] Canton, GA- HUGE latency in my DSL after 7:00pm every

Have had Windstream for about 7 years now. No serious problems with my 12mbps service until about a month ago. DSL tests show 6-12mbps during the day, which is fine. At night, after about 7:00pm, the DSL speed tests show constant lag from .25mbps DOWNLOAD to 3mbps!!! This continues until morning. Replaced router with brand new Airport Extreme, replaced all cables and phone lines. WS modem is only a few years old. Tried plugging directly into modem but same issue. ONLY at night! I believe that Windstream is probably too oversold in the area and probably time to make the move to Comcast Internet. Neighbors who switched said their problems were fixed and Comcast is actually offering some pretty competitive deals.

They seem to be having problems that affect most of this area. We have a ticket open as well. We are told that there is a known issue in the area, and that work is planned to upgrade equipment, but nobody so far has been able to say exactly when that's going to happen.

This Is a typical response, what they really mean is they
oversold the Bandwidth in your area. This means at peak times when everyone is home and online, the node or pipeline is overloaded.

I had the same problem for over a year, until they added more pipelines....good luck!!!

JTanner-
In most cases we do have to upgrade the equipment to resolve a over-subscription issue. This can involve running Fiber Optic cable, installing new DSLAMs or new remotes.
In other cases cable damage (from animals, weather) can appear to be a over-subscription outage because traffic is not flowing correctly when in fact damage on line is causing errors in the broadband signal which in turn manifests itself as a Latency Outage. I would have to be able to pull up your account to determine if either of these scenarios is what is affecting your equipment.
Please send me either a PM or post in »Windstream Direct and I would be happy to take a look.

I understand temporary outages from forces of nature, but you should not sell to the point of over-subscription, until the equipment or new lines etc... are in place to handle the load!

What you are doing is advertising speeds and selling bandwidth you can not possibly deliver! This presents cheating your customers. I myself have dealt with this for years.

I am not having a over bandwidth usage in my area now , but instead a broken line, or bad equipment. But this should be taken care of in a reasonable amount of time.

mcarney - I am having the same exact issues as you. I have restarted my modem, computer, everything. I even reset my modem a couple of weeks ago. I have had Windstream for 6 years and I am going to check out Cable this week. I am very disappointed in the reliablity and speed of windstream. About 6 months ago, I upgraded to a faster connection and upgraded the modem and have had more problems since then.

The latest from Windstream is that they indeed have oversold the Canton area. They admitted that the current equipment is not sufficient to sustain the high spike in usage after 7:00pm . Due to the recent flood of calls to the local supervisor they have ordered new equipment and are awaiting delivery of said equipment. Oddly enough they could give me no time frame or window of when that new equipment would arrive. (When you place an order for ANYTHING you surely have some idea of when to expect it). I would suggest to continue flooding their offices with calls as this seems to be the only thing that irritates them enough to act!!
WINDSTREAM BLOWS!!

We have been told by one of the tier II support folks that the upgrade for this area is scheduled March 14.

It's frustrating to have two more months of this (currently our dl speed is .14 MB, and upload is .05), but at least there is something on the schedule, and hopefully they will do the work on or before that date.
