So, when is the 5 to 6 Mb/s upgrade comming?

So now that the dust is more or less settled and we, the poor schmucks stuck in the lowest ADSL tier are being skinned alive, when will the mythical 5 to 6 upgrade come?
I mean, seriously, considering that's just a friggin profile change, when will our Overlords (praised be them) decided that we deserve this gracious gift?

Just send a request to your ISP. Bell will raise the profile.

Could anybody please tell me if my line is capable of 6M profile? This is my current line status from the modem. Thanks a lot!

You can get 6016/800 very easily on that line.

I think so too. But when I asked for profile raise with my ISP, they told me I am too far from CO. Actually I was on 6M profile two years ago at this location, with the same ISP.

You should insist. Give them the line stats over the phone if necessary. Maybe they have your line mapped incorrectly.

I posted this in aother thread.

Bell Canada is interested in getting examples of people who should have gotten upgraded from 5 to 6 but who didn't.

So if you have good line stats, and didn't get upgraded, IM me your phone number and I will forward this to Bell.

I don't think that my conversation was province specific, so I Ass-U-ME that it was "all over" instead of just one province.

Considering the number who have not been done I'd assume not unless they only did their own customers

I am afraid it is not. My dry loop is still at 5M even though it is perfectly capable of doing 6M.

Which is why my contact at Bell has asked me to provide him/her/it with examples of lines that missed the upgrade. PM me your phone numebr or dry loops number and I will forward it to them.

Hi jfmezei,

My line was changed to interleaved months ago because of the disconnection issue (it's gone mysteriously now), now it's still interleaved as I see in modem status. Is it necessary to change back to fastpath? My connection is stable now, but I know little about difference of these two. In what situations fastpath is more important, and vice versa? Thanks!
