slpip3 join:2007-02-20 Springfield, VA | Unplug the old one and plug in the new one with the similar settings to configure the DIR-815. Just follow the forum below to set the auto channel to a fix channel, and use G mode or N mode if you have problem with the mix modes. |

 | reply to sjb2003 What ISP service do you have? Cable or DSL? Might have to pet up PPPoE acct information if you use DSL and have a DSL Modem thats bridged. If cable service, then it should be automatic and should connect to the cable modem. |

 | reply to sjb2003 Ok thanks for the help. Yes it is cable. What are the best setting to use. We have an apple tv,iPad and net book . Is N setting better. |

| reply to sjb2003 Try single mode G or mixed G and N? What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
Some things to try: Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section. Test with QoS On then OFF. Advanced/QoS. Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual. Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP. Enable Multi-cast streaming and uPnP under Advanced/Networking |

 | Ok is there anyway I could have apple tv and iPad on 5GHz. |
 | reply to BimmerE38FN Ok another question is there any way I could put iPad and apple tv on 5GHz. We have an iPod touch too. I just want the best setting there are. It site rocks. |
 | reply to sjb2003 Only if those devices support the 5Ghz radio and I don't believe they do. The iPad might. I would check with the specs on each device for radio freq support. |
 | iPad 2 does support 5GHz how do I set it up for 5GHz. |
 | reply to sjb2003 Go into the routers web page under Setup/Wireless/Manual and set the 5Ghz radio for single mode N and use WPA2 and AES only. Enter in a SSID name and password. Save settings. Test and make sure the iPad connects. It should if it does support 5Ghz. |
 | Ok got that but I will need 2 ghz for other things so can I do mix for both. Thank for the help so far. |
 | reply to sjb2003 Do the same thing for 2.4Ghz, accept set for Mixed G and N. Give a different SSID name.
Then you should see both SSIDs in WiFi. |

 | reply to sjb2003 Is your old 628 still working? |
 | So I have to make different profiles. So I can access both profile or do have to change the setting each time I use different device.
Yes my router still work. |

| reply to sjb2003 I don't use profiles on my systems here however on some systems they are available. I guess you should be able to set up profiles for either radio, it will just depend on how what radio you want to use. On the iPad you should be able to specify which radio is preferred each time it's turned on. I know on my Mac Book my 5Ghz is preferred first then others 2nd. I presume on other device you should be able to do the same thing.
You could turn that 628 into an AP as well. |
 | so l can access both profile on network just make they own profile.. How do you go about Ap. |
 | reply to sjb2003 Theres a sticky on the DGL-4500 forum for turning a router into an AP. |
