Anyone ever post a personals ad on Craigslist?

In my ongoing search for a SO, I figured what the heck, and posted a personals ad on Craigslist. I have nothing to lose, and it would be interesting to see what kind of responses I might get.

Three different ads have been posted on January 10 at »montreal.craigslist.ca under "strictly platonic", "man seeking woman" and "casual encounters."

Be advised that the "casual encounters" ad is highly explicit, and written in the style of Dr. Seuss.

Instead of linking to the ads directly, let's make this a treasure hunt! All three ads have the same skill testing question used to differentiate the legitimate responses from the spambot responses. So you shouldn't have too much trouble locating the three ads in question.

So how many here have posted personal ads on Craigslist or any other advertising medium, and have you had any success? I'm curious to know.

Happy searching!

A few years ago, as an experiment, a buddy of mine and I decided to post an ad on Lavalife. What we did was we posted the ad as a woman seeking a man. We did not post a photo, but did post a description that was a little too "perfect".

What followed was quite amazing.

By the next morning, we received over 3000 responses. It was nuts (no pun intended).

Many contained photos of men that we knew were TGTBT. Several photos we ran through Tineye and noted they were images pulled from magazine and pr0n websites.

We received about 300 responses (10%) that included photos of the respondent's johnson. A couple dozen of them were quite... lurid. A handful were quite disgusting. One of them was a 400LB tow truck driver from Pensacola Florida in full birthday suit. You don't want to know - didn't eat for a week.

We still laugh about it to this day.

That truck driver must have been an *oversight* to see! LOL!

Quick note. I updated the "casual encounters" ad, and it hasn't reappeared on the list yet. If it doesn't show up later in the day, I'll resubmit it. The other two ads are still visible.

A friend of mine, who is recently divorced dis something similar on Plenty of Fish, he got an email from the admins saying they had never seen such overwhelming response.

Many of the "fish" were simply looking for a quickie in the afternoon.

a previous co-worker used that site during the week and had "dates" every weekend with a different woman...good for fun, but i wouldn't go there for anything more than that...most of the girls, he couldn't even remember their names (had to look them up online to remember who was who)...kind of like a movie.

Craigslist requires a shift reload to clear your browser cache before it will display an updated ad.

POF is kind of the go-to because it's free, but they're starting to capitalize on it by removing features and charging you for them.

What I meant was that it was dropped entirely from the list. It's still in the system, but it hasn't been re-indexed. I may have to submit it again.

A female friend posted an ad on that site a while ago. She now refers to it as "plenty of douchebags".

I think PlentyOfFish is the real deal. I have two co-workers (males who don't know each other) who have told me that they have 3 or 4 girlfriends from that site and have relations with them every weekend, they have practically begged me to place an ad there and see for myself. The guys are 25 and 42 years old.

I'll check it out, I'm still very curious at the type of responses I might get. However, my preference is for a relationship that will last a bit longer longer than a few hours every other weekend.

I've just deleted the third ad on Craigslist, and will repost it tomorrow night. It's too bad for the delay. My explicit write-up is truly bizarre, and I really wanted people to read it!

When I was in my early 20's I used to get a LOT of girls' phone numbers via Yahoo chat (1998) and talk with them all night long, most of them were extremely hot and invited me to go to nightclubs with them but I was too dumb & chicken at 21 to follow through. The last person I talked to was this cute sexy blonde doll who literally wanted me to rescue her from her abusive husband and told me to come and get her, that she would move in with me into my apartment, she said she would pack her things and run off to road at mid-night if I waited for her outside.

The problem was that she was from North Carolina, a place called Charleston or Charlette, something along those lines.

I met my may-as-well-be-my-wife-and-maybe-one-day-if-we-ever-get-the-money-she-will-be on there, and her sister met her now-husband on there. Sometimes the results are great, but I met some real wackjobs off there, too.

So if you don't like wackjobs, why do you hang around CanPol?

BTW, why the need for money? Can't you do the wedding on the cheap?

Sure, we could go to St. Catharines, get a license (because you know, they're cheaper in St. Catharines than Fort Erie) and hire a marriage commissioner...

... but why would we want to? If we're going to go through the hoopla of a weeding, we'd want to at least make it somewhat memorable. Neither of us care, but goddamnit we would want to throw one hell of a party for our friends and family if we go that route.

Besides, why spoil what we have now with a wedding? We'll do it when we chose to, not because we feel we have to.

Yeah I remember the 90s, the allure of the beebopping modem and the hot chat (the precursor to sexting LOL).
